Maar vandaag was ik bezig met Global English, Marlies.
Willen jullie een tipje van de sluier????
Mackey (1967: 555) suggests that there are four questions which a description of bilingualism must address: function, degree, interference and alternation. Function focuses on the uses a bilingual speaker has for the languages, and the different roles that they have in the total repertoire of the individual. The degree of bilingualism concerns proficiency: how well does the bilingual master each of the languages? Interference has to do with the extent to which the individual manages to keep the languages separate, or whether they are fused. Alternation treats the extent to which the individual alternates between the languages. These four aspects relate to one another.
