Cd's sound like shit, too compressed...Nothing beat the pure cracking sound on a vinyl!
That is partly true. If you mix down well below 0dB it is possible to include frequency ranges in sub bass tones of 15hz (well below the treshold for cd) but that is NOT the way most vinyls are mastered and pressed, they are mostly at, or a bit over, 0dB which means its just 30hz and higher.
And for the high end tones, CD is much better. Also the sound quality of vinyl, even when treated nicely, will deteriorate. Not a big deal, but a little bit. CD doesn't have this problem, since it's digitally stored information.
I know that what you say above is a popular misconception, because I work in the music industry and have a lot to do with mastering etc.
