Aphrodite alias Gavin King has been a DJ and producer with many different faces for the last 16 years. Therefore he is refered to as the ‘Godfather of jungle’ and ‘King of the beats’. He is responsible for letting millions of people all over the world know drum and bass. From Shanghai to Rio, London to Sydney and from Moscow to Seoul he travels around the world as an ambassador of this sound. His productions can be found anywhere: CD, MP3, radio, film, TV and of course in many dj’s record cases all over the world. The two unbelievably succesfull albums ‘Aphrodite’ and ‘Aftershock’ released on V2 speak for themselves, with a third one on the way. Furthermore the forthcoming Mix albums, Urban Jungle, Overdrive and Urban Junglist give us a taste of the promising dj set on the Icon night. It makes him the most influencing and most listened to dj’s in the world.
Duncan Busto is Spirit. He had his break through with his Phantom Audio label after making some productions for labels like Metalheadz. After that things started rolling, especially with his solo album ‘Puzzle Box’, that contained hits like ‘Siren’ and ‘Calling Card’. He is also producing for labels like C.I.A., Timeless, Renegade Hardware, and created the hit record ‘Solitaire’ for Metalheadz. This means enough own productions, including moaning bass lines to show on this Icon night.
One87 stands for strictly jungle, something he’s been spreading with his record store and with ‘Millenium Kru’. This crew has become a famous concept in Ghent and far beyond. And now he’s solo. He created the most wicked drum and bass night in Belgium, ‘Star Wars’ and has been playing over 750 dj sets.
Nymfo and Proxima have been working together for the last year and have been releasing a few tunes already. Of course, many will follow. They will take care of the introduction of the evening. This will also be Proxima’s debut night as an Icon resident.
