I know that DarkSkywise has some experience with foreign copyrights. If he happens to poke his head in, I'm sure he'll be able to answer your question. :)

*pokes*

International copyright law states that as soon as you put something on a "tangible medium" (like a piece of paper, a floppy disk, a cassette tape or even a Partyflock server), it's automatically copyrighted and *your* property, as long as it's a fully original piece of work. :D

Easy, huh? :)
see?^^^told ya he'd know.

only I don't know what it is that Eloise wants to publish.... need to know that first before I can tell more

is it moo-sic? a book? art? photos?
Hopefully she didn't give up on looking for an answer. From her profile, though..I'm guessing it's music.

well, she was here yesterday, so I'm sure she'll pop up soon again :)

(and EVERYBODY checks out their own threads anyway :P )
Like in EVERY froum there is "funny" and not nice people, but on the other hand there are nice person like u, who reply to simple question, with simple words :)

"tangible medium" is simple? :O

;)
I apologize, i had just looked at the topic now;anyway, thanks to all of you who replied;i'd like to pubblish my record:i made 14 tracks and it would be nice to let it listen to someone and/or someone inportant;since i don't like some labels' policy,i prefere to autoproduce (also because i don't have so much money to spend).
I talked to an italian association called copyzero in order to have information about copyrighting;here in italy,if you want to make a record you have to contact the Author and Editor Association (SIAE),you have to be signed and then you pay all life long!!!

I will check my threads more freuqently by now :)
Uit veiligheidsoverwegingen ben je na 15 minuten van inactiviteit, automatisch uitgelogd van Partyflock.

Very nice feature...:(
Why do you need the licence of other authors when you made own tracks? Did you use samples or what do you mean?

i made only one track that is not properly mine;in any case, you have to register your own tracks to SIAE which should protect you rights, and,if you make a song of other authors, you have to ask for the permission to play the song

I don't think so, you just have to evidence that you made the track before anyone else did it.
One way is to press your own tracks.

If you use other tracks, to make remixes or to replay the whole track or just a part of it in your way you're right, then you need the agreement of the owner and that's not always the songwriter.

When you made a own track, he is allready protected automatically. I'm not sure about the rights in other countrys, but i think it's in europe everywhere the same. If you make a track, he is yours.
"Evidence" is the big problem.
You can also post yourself a sealed packed with the datas inside. You need of course the date and a signatur from the beneficiary (You).
Don't open the packed until you really use it...

Just another problem...how can they protect your rights? Take a look to the actual situation of the mucis business...any questions? :)
Nobody can protect any songs these times. But there are ways to use the internet for your own interests. Also to sale your tracks, i think about cd's, but with a special booklet and a very nice design. It should be a complete artwork, not only music and a boring jewelcase...
Many people does not accept mp3 as a artwork, but they see it like a preview or prehear.
But why do you make a CD with coversongs?
We have allready Marilyn Manson for that...
Make own songs, it's so much easyer and more interesting...
I have to be fast, before the forum excludes me from the connection, I am using a translator Italian-English to do more quickly, therefore forgiven me if I won't be comprehensible; well, dear e-edit, the Italian situation is very complicated: SIAE is an association that pays the authors every time that a song is performed during the concerts or in the discos in order to protect the right of author, but all of this is not for free: SIAE receives a large part of the profits of the sales of the albums of the enrolled authors and in practice it is financed in this way.
so the right is substantially existing, but formally it needs a recognition, that's why I have contacted the other association (copyzero)

in my cd there should be only one cover song; all the remaining are totally mine
i have the right
to copy myself
in thought
it can be
a human
that is me
or just
another
child
maybe i found a solution and i must contact Siae, there's no way out;I wrote to Gema and they didn't answear
