no hehe

One word:

VVV

Every city/village has one! If you see this sign, they walk in and ask anything you want!
What is it exactly? Can we get a beer there??? just kidding... seriously, tell us more about it.

The VVV is an office where you can find information about the city. Hotels, museums, restaurants, bus scedules, train rosters, traffic to other city's, you can buy maps, books about that cite, and other stuff.

Just walk in there if you are in Holland
To make a long story a short one;

VVV is Thourist Information
Tourist information.

if you want to RENT an apartment, you can go to:

www.kamernet.nl

here you can select your city, and your maximum price per month for an apartment/room.

if there isn't a possibility there to see the site in english, you can email the webmaster through a contact button.

www.funda.nl

is a house buy/sell site, the biggest in holland.
all large real estate agencies advertise their houses on this website.

here you can allso select a city, minimum and maximum prize for buying a house or apartment.
(click on the "woningaanbod" button on the website.)

the best tip i can give you to search for apartments and houses in Holland is to go search with a dutch friend of yours, he/she can translate things easily for you and explain some rules and laws.
Search websites, and go to real estate agencies in the city where you are planning to buy property.
If you want to rent a house for lets say a year on a short basis even in the citys you can go to directwonen.nl there is no waiting list allthough it's a bit more expensive but waiting lists for renting houses the normal way can take a few years,,,

Usualy you get waiting list to rent a house?????? crazy...
What about buying an apartment? Do the bank lend money easly, what are the rates, etc....?
In Amsterdam, i think you can get 50m² for 150.000 euros, am i right? What are the usuals prices?

best way I think is contacting VVV (tourist info) and contact a dutch person. Most of the dutch people can find out things for you if u ask nicely.

:):)
Another thing if you're new to the country... the police don't give a fuck!
Never ever, accept a house on the keileweg in Rotterdam

first of all:

- it's not safe there, it really isn't
- yes there are a few warehouses you can live in
- if you like to be close to the hookers and pimps of the streets, go for it
- if you're a drug addict, pls stay away, we have enough of those ourselfes

the whole area around marconiplein is unsafe (especially for a non-dutch speaking person)

this may sounds stupid but its true

Thanks!

To buy a house you go to the bank to see wots the mortage is you can afford... normally the won't give a mortage to people without a secured job... but just go to 1 of the major banks (Rabobank, Postbank) and inform bout the possibilities.... Prices will vary a lot ... from 70.000 - 100.000 euro's for a small appartment in the suburbs of the big cities till 150.000 - 200.000 in the citiycentres of the major cities....
Good luck

Do you know their usual position when a foreigner, not working in holland, wants to borrow money to get an apartment?
