Vintage Boy

Vintage Boy is the new talent from Friesland. This hardstyle dj and producer is working hard to provide himself a place between the big dj's in the hardstyle scene. He strikes immediately through his innovative style. His motto is simple: "Back in the days dj's were guys who just spinned records, but nowadays you won't reach the top without producing your own tracks. Dj's are nowadays like pop artists who play their own tracks during concerts." That is why the only 24-year old Jilles Postma works in his spare time particularly in the studio on new tracks, because: "Rome isn't build in 1 day either".

Because his father has two jukeboxes standing in the living room, and thousands of singles in his collection, Jilles grew up literally with music. "At any time of the day there was music playing in our house, from The Beatles to Enigma". That's why he already started at the age of twelve with spinning records. "Together with my neighbor we build our own drive-in show with lights and everything around it".

Jilles started spinning records again after a break of five years at the age of eighteen. After hearing a liveset of DJ Isaac at Qlimax 2005 he was in love with hardstyle, it became his passion and live. He saved some money so he could buy turntables and a small home studio. After some practicing he made his first livesets and tracks under the name 'Vintage Boy'. It didn't stayed unnoticed and at the end of 2007 he got asked to become resident dj at Grand Café Fellows in Balk to play all-round music. This was the perfect place to express his musicality and he quickly builded up branding in the region. It was at this place also where he met Alex Leenes (Alex L), with who he would play on different parties later on.

After spinning records at for three months Jilles decided to focus more on producing own tracks. Tracks that Vintage Boy produced like 'My Prayers', 'Defqon 1 Australia Anthem 2010', 'Diva', 'Fuck The Summer Of Hardstyle (Mash Up) and his most recent tracks 'Earth' and 'Free' got picked up really good at the digital channels. The last one even got played on Defqon 1 Festival by Silver Nikan.

His music style is known as melodious hardstyle with hard banging kicks. D-block & S-te-fan, Noisecontrollers and Wildstylez are big inspirations for this young dj/producer. "These producers are production technically so perfect; I'd love to spent a day in the studio with them!". But his interests are not limited to hardstyle only. Paul Kalkbrenner, Hans Zimmer and Alt-J are only a few of the examples Jilles likes to listen to and gets inspiration from.

Now, a few years after he started as an artist, he already spinned at most of the biggest clubs and festivals in the North of the Netherlands like 'Heavenly Outdoor Festival', 'Beachrockers Festival', 'Sans Souci', 'Club Noa', 'Huize Maas' and 'Project N50'. These are only a few on the impressive list where he played between big names like Headhunterz, Frontliner, Wildstylez, Zany, B-Front, Code Black, Deepack and Scope DJ.
Besides that he is resident dj at the popular and own organized hardstyle party 'Psalm 23'. These examples indicate Vintage Boy is working hard to reach the top. In the near future he hopes to sign at a record label, but a perfectionist as he is, Vintage Boy thinks his tracks just aren't good enough yet. But one thing is for sure: Vintage Boy is coming, and if he's coming, he's coming hard!
