Biografie
·Tariq Pijning, age 20, grew up in a very musical family. It was no surprise he discovered his passion for music at an early stage. At the age of 6 Tariq already appeared to have a strong predilection for the saxophone. Starting in an orchestra, Tariq developed his musical knowledge, but in the meantime he worked on his improvisational skills, in which he was inspired by big names like Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Michael Brecker and Candy Dulfer. Several talent shows offered Tariq an opportunity to test his skills to an audience, which resulted in one prize after another. This only encouraged him more to step into the spotlight. At the age of 14 Tariq joined the band Alloway, where he gained his first stage experience. It already appeared that he was a very promising talent. In 2011 Tariq signed at DN Leisure Management, under the name "Saxophonics". Here he was contracted until 2013.
Nowadays, Tariq has already built an impressive list of artists he played with and venues he played at. He has performed at the Nightlife Awards in 2011, the Nightlife Awards in 2013 (he also worked on the Nightlife Awards 2013 Anthem: "Tommy Johnson & Chris Odd ft. Tariq Pijning - Beat'n Down"), St. Tropez Beach House, Liberation Festival Groningen 2014, Heavenly Outdoor Festival 2014 and many more. He has also performed in many clubs, such as FOX Stadskanaal, Peppermill Music Palace Heerlen, VIOS, Club Kokomo and Brothers Festival Dome, and he has shared the stage with DJs like Tommy Johnson, Chris Odd, Tim Holland, Kroegtijgers, Ruëll, Nikki Nice, B-funk, Steff da Campo, Fajah Lourens and, last but not least, Danny da Costa, one of the most promising DJs at the moment, with whom Tariq has teamed up to amaze audiences with a new and unique sound.
Tariq style can be characterized as uplifting, innovative and pure, but above all, Tariq's style is very unique. Wherever he plays, Tariq knows how to lift songs to a higher level. With rhythmic and melodic influences from jazz, funk, blues and soul, mixed with modern house, Tariq always hits the right tones, at the right moments. Be amazed by this young and promising saxophone talent.
