Biografie
PsoGnar (aka Dustin J Burk) Began studying music at the age of 10. His first instrument was classical guitar. He never took lessons but picked it up on his own and began reading music and guitar tablature. He later picked up piano at age 14. After playing his first gig in 7th grade at a school talent show (Playing Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child and Purple Haze on guitar Wah pedal and all) he knew he found his passion. He also was a Baratone an Honors Choir at his Middle school Westminster Academy who sang in Latin and performed in places like Carnegie Hall, New York, and The Vatican, in Rome, Italy. In his senior year of high school, he joined the Honors Jazz Band at Cardinal Gibbons high school and took home a "Best Jazz Guitar Solo" Award at an All-State Competition (This was his first year playing Jazz). He also won a battle of the bands at his high school for playing Lynyrd Skynyrd's legendary "Freebird" Guitar solo (All 7 minutes, just like it sounds on the record). Over the years in studying many aspects of music theory he became a master in the art of blues, classical, reggae, rock, funk, and jazz.
He began music production at age 17 when, after saving up from building electronic hurricane shutters, he decided to buy Pro Tools LE recording software and an Akai Drum Machine. He began by producing Hip Hop beats, recording hooks, and getting local rappers to fill the verses under the name Sixstring King. Under this name he also began DJing in his college town Jacksonville where he currently attends UNF. Not long after he began was he spinning in all the biggest clubs in Jacksonville. He played numerous shows at events like Dayglow, Dancegiving, where he would play guitar live over electronic music sets. He opened for Steve Aoki and Wolfgang Gartner with a group called "Drummer vs DJ". He released a number of remixes and originals under his first alias Sixstring King and amassed about 900,000 views on Youtube all together from those tracks. He released his first and only official track with a fellow Floridian producer named Invader!. The track was called "Natural High" and Dustin wrote, sang, played guitar, and co-produced on it. It was released on Heavy Artillery Recordings located in Hollywood, CA
Even at the time of the time of this release in November 2011, Dustin was already set on changing his alias to PsoGnar. After maturing as a person and an artist, the name Sixstring King just did not fit anymore. Calling himself a "King" seemed too cocky, and the more he progressed as a producer, the less he was actually using guitar at all in his tracks. "I want to embody my new-found knowledge/consciousness and start fresh under PsoGnar. Every song I do will display this consciousness and will always be So Gnar-ley."
He recently signed his first release to Burn The Fire Records located in Los Angeles, CA. The 2-Track release will be called "Dub Conscious Vol. 1" and will be the first of 4 releases that will eventually encompass the full 8 track "Dub Concsious" Album. 8 is a very significant number in music and in nature. 8 Chakras and their energies will individually reside in the corresponding song to which they were written. Each of the 8 tracks will be in a different key that together will make up a whole octave. I want to show people that Dubstep really can be music, and not just a bunch of robot sex noises. Join me on my journey, it has just begun. .and I'm hella stoked about it. . .
