·If only they had known!
Rising a DJ talent just by letting him sneak into their rooms while they were listening to the Hip Hop, R'n'B and Soul sounds of the late 80ies and early 90ies with their friends, his brothers can now pride themselves to be the ones who gave then little six-year-old Yonatan his hunger for music and it was them who introduced him to the musical spheres of NWA, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah and all the other greats of that time. These first experiences might explain his still recognizable tight bond to old school R'n'B music and the heartfelt connections from charts to back-to-the-roots black music sounds.
But even his parents realized they were rising a special talent and after nights after nights of exploring their vinyls, he fell in love with Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye and "The Temptations" and there were still so many more...
Driven by not only wanting to listen to music, but actually making it, being involved in the process of creating and making people feel like he did, he saved up enough money quickly to buy equipment and vinyls. His first LP "Nineteen Naughty Three" from Naughty By Nature was being played endlessly after school at home and since he still was at school and enjoyed sports like swimming, basketball and football, he had to find a way to devide his freetime between his favourite pasttimes.
But quickly he figured out that music was not only a way to spend your afternoons, his collection of vinyls grew huge and finally in early 2003 his brother and his friends got him his first gig at a major party, believing in his ability to move the masses. And boy, he did.
He was hooked immediately and fame and success came quickly and no one was really surprised at that. The bookings got even more time- comsuming and he toured the famous clubs in Germany to enthrall his audiences.
But the knowledge of the music was not enough, he craved perfectioning his techniques and therefore registered himself in the Noisy Stylus' renowned "Battle Scene" courses to put the finishing touches to his very own style.
In the coming years of 2005 and 2006 he toured as a booking DJ through Germany, whenever he was able to split his time between his residency at Coblence' "B-9" and his still favourite pasttime sports. Big engagements followed one another and linking his interest with his ambition he scored big in obtaining a commission for the Nike Battle Ground Tour Party (2005) and the BBC All Star Game Party (2006), his international breakthrough.
Curious about what the fuss is all about with this carismatic young guy, the management of the NBA finally decided to book him as the one and only official DJ for the european NBA tour, getting him gigs for Adidas and the NBA itself and setting his turntables up in Rome, Madrid, Istanbul, Moscow, Berlin and Munich.
But DJ Bless wasn't satisfied by only doing, he wanted creating, making, sharing and focused on conceptioning a unique kind of old school related music party with all songs of the Funk, Soul and 90ies Hip Hop and R'n'B that he loved and knew would draw people in the clubs and on the dancefloors, letting loose on these sweet sounds. In December 2008 he saw his ideas giving birth to the still to be held "Funk You!" parties, which still attract people from all over the Rhine- Ruhr area.
To build a solid ground on which he could anchor his growing business, DJ Bless decided in 2009 to immatriculate himself for the University of Cologne as a major in business management. During his following two years of studies he spend lots of time developing "black music".
In 2010 and 2011 he grew restless and hit the road again as a booking DJ european-wide, but still tied himself down again with pleasure to his residences at "Funk You!", "Soul Channel" and "Brown Suga Night" Rockin' parties in and around Cologne.
