Biografie
Keytown Sound is a Reggae Dancehall soundsystem from Leiden (Holland) and formed in the end of 2003. Keytown nowadays consists of 2 members: Ard aka Martial, the sound's MC, & selecta/operator Leon.
Keytown is the nickname for the beautiful old city of Leiden, wich locates between Amsterdam and Rotterdam in Holland.
The Key part comes from the citylogo wich shows a lion holding a sword and a shield with 2 crossed keys on it, the keys signafy the openers of the kingdom of heaven.
Before Keytown was born, Ard first formed Ruff-E-Nuff Soundsystem with Keytown veteran Senior while Leon took his first step in Reggaemusic with One Blood Sound alongside Yabba Youp ( who is now Crucial Warrior Sound). Together with their family and friends Nieke, Yennifer and Marko they started a Reggae Dancehall bashment in Leiden called The Glue Factory in 2003 wich is nowadays wellknown all over Holland and abroad.
The Glue Factory mainly organises dances and concerts with national & international soundsystems and artists in the popvenue of Leiden called LVC. Big sounds like Bass Odyssey, David Rodigan, PowPow, Mighty Crown, Sentinel, Supersonic, Civalizee, Foundation, Herbalize It, United Sounds, Jah Sound International, Demolisha, SoundQuake, Balooba, Pure Love, Crucial Warrior, Sound Armada, Jahva & Apache have already touched the stage, as well as artists like BountyKiller, Junior Kelly, Freddy McGregor, Warrior King, Richie Spice, Maikal X, Turbulence, Stein, Queen Ifrica, Chino, Smiley, Skarra Mucci, Yellowman, Eek-a-Mouse, Dr. Ring Ding, Beef!, Iriginal Abraham, Nes1 & Papa Aya who did a live performance with their band or on soundsystem.
Keytown Sound is The Glue Factory's resident sound, always playing a strong set of Reggae and Dancehall music from old to new and everything inbetween. The rising sound from Holland's nicknames "The Dutch Delight" or "The People's Choice" make clear they always play with positive vibes and full hundred for the massive.
Playing in other venues outside Leiden like Zollamt (Stuttgart, Germany), Wake Up! (Pescara, Italy), Villa Serena (Bologna, Italy), Club Westouter (Belgium), Paradiso, Bitterzoet, Caprice, Ruigoord (Amsterdam), Tivoli (Utrecht), W2 (Den Bosch), Paard van Troje, De Vinger, Syndicaat (The Hague), Willem1, Azucar (Arnhem), De Waerdse Tempel (Heerhugowaard), Patronaat, De Stalker (Haarlem), Exit (Rotterdam) and more keep Keytown hungry like a lion.
Their goals are to keep making Reggae and Dancehallmusic bigger and bigger in hometown Leiden and the whole of Holland, to be a respected sound in the Reggae Dancehall culture plus to keep on playing big tunes and entertaining crowds all over the globe as much as they can!
