Biografie
Edward "Seven" is no stranger to sound design ever since his early involvement in the UK drum and bass scene, with a release catalog harking back to the golden era of jungle - 1994. Garnering a steady string of releases on labels like High Lite Recordings, Frequency, and Bad Company UK, Edward's natural ability to write mature and intentional music became recognised and respected in a swift fashion. As the years went on, Edward gained inspiration to apply his knowledge and skill to a new canvas - dubstep. With one of the scenes most infamous DJ's - Youngsta - as a close friend, Edward had a seamless avenue to enter into the scene with. After writing some music exclusively for Youngsta, and being blown away by the reactions he was receiving, Edward made the decision circa 2008 to dedicate his time and skill solely to dubstep music.
Quickly signing music to dubstep's finest imprints, Seven became one of the UK underground's most prolific figures. His impeccable song-writing and energetic stage presence helped carry and keep him at the top. Tracks like 'Wait' and 'Masai Mara' are two shining examples of the production quality and innovation that perpetuated the meteoric ascension Edward experienced early in his career. After releasing a hefty amount of singles, Edward made the decision to formulate his first full-length album, which was released on Black Box Records in 2012. The 'Evolution' LP was one of the most successful albums of the year, within the dubstep scene. Avoiding the rampant trend of giving in to commercial interests, Edward stuck to his roots of deep, dark, and experimental, largely contributing to the underground's continuity.
Biography
"With a discography stretching back over a couple of decades, and a unreleased catalog rumoured to be in the high figures, it's hard to fathom just how big Seven's lasting mark on the world wide music scene is and will be in the future.
"Edward started his musical career as a drum & bass producer, gaining recognition with a number of singles on DnB godfather's Andy C labels 'Ram', 'Frequency' and 'High Lite Recordings' as well as liquid V, Philly Blunt and Bad Company Recordings. It was in 2008, however, that Edward found his true calling as a producer.
"Edward rebranded to 'Seven' and joined London's young but vibrant dubstep community, after making the move to 140bpm. He soon caught the eyes and ears of the dubstep faithful, releasing his debut 'Sirens' on the legendary Tempa Allstars 5 compilation. I first met him in late 2009 - and have since watched the producer and DJ grow in stature within both the London and global dubstep communities.
"Seven's release catalogue has grown significantly since his Tempa debut, having had tunes signed to N-Type's imprint Wheel & Deal as well as Subway, Aquatic Lab and more. 2012 saw Seven's first LP on the highly regarded Black Box Records; a 12 track/ 70m behemoth that garnered significant support within the dubstep community and was nominated for best album of 2012 in the prestigious D.S.F awards.
"In 2013 Seven truly made his mark on bass music. Having founded his own label - Uprise Audio (Awarded the D.S.F award for best new label) - in Nov 2012, we saw Seven mark his inaugural release on the imprint with the impeccable UA003. 'Walter White', is in my opinion, the best track we had heard from this London producer to date and it played a very important part in shaping where dubstep was heading from then on.
"Seven has always been known for both his quality productions and forward-thinking music, but in 2014 he has raised the bar even higher. His releases on the ground breaking hit Live From The Future LP and Extended Edition, as well as a new hit release on Tempa - a collaboration with long time friend and Tempa label boss DJ Youngsta - have made Seven one of this year's exciting prospects. A talent to watch."
