Biografie
In 2010 Hermanos Inglesos, the Belgian dj duo consisting of the brothers Didier and Cedric Engels, released their debut album 'The Wander of You'. With the singles 'Mastermind' (a favourite of Erol Alkan, Fake Blood and Tiga) and 'Wanderland' (received airplay on BBC Radio 1, the poignant animation video got more than two million views) the album was the culmination point of the whirlwind existence on which the brothers embarked when they won the Diesel-U-Music contest in 2004. Their eclectic taste got them a residency spot in Ghent's Culture Club, they played after shows and private parties for the likes of The Cure, Sonic Youth and Sienna Miller (and even Caroline, Princess of Hannover!) and did remixes for Yeasayer, The Temper Trap, Crystal Fighters, Hurts and Digitalism.
Things could so easily have stayed the same. Surprisingly, there came a three-year 'hiatus' in which Cedric, the younger brother, moved to London to study sound and audio engineering. Back home, Didier picked up his acoustic guitar again, for fun.
Cedric 'Our album 'The Wander of You' was all about beats, but in my head, I was already hearing melodies then. That record was the end of a phase, really.'
Didier 'We haven't deejayed for two years, deliberately. We needed oxygen. With EDM, nightlife has become so preoccupied with climaxes. Nowadays deejays have to play short sets, whereas we're old school - we prefer to play all night long and take the crowd on a trip. Instead of deejaying, I played a lot of guitar, like when I was in teenage bands. I just found myself writing songs.'
Anno 2014 Hermanos Inglesos is absolutely ready to re-enter the music scene. Not only as a DJ duo but also as composers and producers. After they remixed Hooverphonic's success single ' Amalfi" the band is now ready to release their new single. 'The Fastlane' is the premium example of that new-found confidence: a poppy clubtrack with soulful vocals and beats, that can be stripped down to an equally strong acoustic song. Lead vocals are by Anne Freier, a German singer who Cedric met in London. The first version is a remix by Alex Gopher, the final radio edit will be released early march 2014. More new work coming up this spring

Cedric 'Didier is the songwriter now, I'm the producer. That's a tense work situation.' Didier 'The secret of our chemistry is that it's an ongoing fight. A fight between two brothers (laughs).'
