A name synonymous with Sufi music in this country, Kavita Seth's soulful voice is a pure blend of divinity and love.
From her debut Maula in the film Vaada to Mujhe Matt Roko in Gangster to Mora Piya Mose Bolat Nahi in Raajneeti to Bangur Jaisi Duniya in I AM to her claim to fame, Iktara in Wake Up Sid or the latest sensation Tum Hi Ho Bandhu in Cocktail, each song she lends her voice to promises to stay with people forever.
Besides her successful oeuvre in Bollywood, she has also rendered her voice to Lagan Laagi Re and Khari Khari, songs from the Hollywood venture Trishna.
In fact, her vocals in the Rajasthani folk-based Khari Khari mesmerised one and all through the popular music based TV show, Coke Studio.
A post graduate in Hindustani Classical music, Kavita shares pristine sufi renditions through her numerous music albums -- Ek Din (Universal Music), OM (Sa Re Ga Ma), Sufiaana (Times Music), Kabirana Sufiana (EMI), Bulleshah (EMI), Jaam-e-Sufi (Hungama- digital), Khuda Wohi Hai (Times Music).
Having carved a niche for herself in the industry, the singer has bagged several awards. The prestigious Filmfare, IIFA, Stardust, Screen, three awards by GIMA (Global Indian Music Academy), Radio Mirchi, GR8 Woman Achiever Award in Music and many more have appreciated her exceptional talent.
The audience has been witness to her captivating live performances for more than 30 years now. Having performed successfully in more than 500 venues world over, Kavita has indeed proven that music knows no boundaries. This empanelled artist at ICCR for Sufi Music has spread the message of love through music at the Common Wealth Games- Qutub, Delhi, Aman Ki Asha organised by The Times of India, Lucknow Festival, Jodhpur RIFF (Rajasthani International Folk Festival) at Mehrangarh Fort, Red Fort (New Delhi) Urdu Academy, Ajanta Ellora Festival- Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Laxmi Vilas Palace- Vadodra, Festival of India, Kala Ghoda Association, Mumbai, various IIT and IIMs institutes in the country, Chandni Chowk Utsav at Delhi, International Sufi Festival ( Music ) among many others.
In the memory of her beloved husband, guide, mentor and friend Mr. K.K. Seth she annually organizes Anandotsav and Nirvana, two Sufi evenings for her fans, to celebrate life through music.
With a dream to infuse the spirit of Sufism in more and more people across the globe, Kavita Seth has partnered with her son Kanishk Seth for her forthcoming album Trance with Khusrow scheduled to be released in 2014.
