Born in Haarlem, Holland, DJ The GEE’s long n’ living love for music jumpstarted at the young age of 6 as he received his first turntable, and a year later when he begun playing the flute and piano. Blending the influences of soul, funk and acquiring inspiration in the Hip Hop world from the likes of Boogie Down Productions (KRS-One, D-Nice, and DJ Scott La Rock), and all time favourite Jazz masters Miles Davis and James Brown. By 15, The GEE was playing the scene tuned to Hip Hop Jazzed up Funky beats.
Synching to the Acid house movement of the 80’s he organized parties and underground raves around Holland, the main gig called Night of the Gabbers. Following a break from the turntables DJ the Gee pushed full throttle once more in 2009, immersing himself in the Ibiza dance scene. By 2010, Ibiza partygoers would hear his pulsating mixes as he first went on the air at Sonica Radio and later Ibiza Global Radio, (97.6 FM in Spain and streamed/itunes/www.audio4all.com) both during peak airtime. Soon after he played to a full house at the Pussycat terrace in San Antonio where eager audiences thumped to lively, rhythmic yet grounded hypnotic dance grooves. He played in La Plage @ Feel More Than Fine (Nikos Akrivos) with 2 DJ’in the Kitchen (A project with Ibiza partner Snakeman). Ibiza summer of 2010 laid foundation to The Gee’s collaboration with a variety of international and local artists and Ibiza venues. Opening for Christof Drouillet’s (IBZ recordings) Take no system party in Sands he promised versatility, style and always FUN. Playing @ exclusive villa parties with Nico Stim & Stephan of Bamboo Forest, Davina (Massive), Christoff (IBZ recordings) Frankie Kox Box , Tommaso Favretto (Sound Farm Studio), Dimitri Nakov (Tronic) Mark Ramsey (Noir) and Iban Mendoza (Ibiza Global Radio) . The Gee’s 2010 residencies landed in Ibiza @ RESET in Dakota, with 2 DJ’in the Kitchen and Afterparties summer 2010 @ Wicked Tuesday Mornings (after Cocoon) and @ Wicked Thursday Mornings (after La Troya).
At summer’s close GEE is hooking up with Nyimo (Last man Standing), making a project with StefanDX (Bamboo Forrest), another with Lazy Lazerus (IBZ INC. - www.lazylazerus.inc) and working closer to some of his favourite island artists such as Absolum, Deedrah, Etnica, Dimitri Nakov, Frankie Kox Box and Davina of Massive. This last alliance gave birth to The Gee’s first collaboration in music production through the single “Happy Feet EP on IBZ Recordings including exclusive remixes from Daniele PETRONELLI & Mark RAMSEY. Released 23rd March 2011 and number nine on the beatport top ten downloads chart by day three. The track’s deep enveloping techno feel marks a new era of experimentation and dance for DJ The Gee as every one of his mixes offers dancers a new and unique journey.
Winter time meant no rest either. As summer hit the southern hemisphere DJ The Gee sprung various residencies on fervent Argentineans in Mar del Plata. Starting twice weekly at La Princesa and tweaking tunes in Club Thames, Club Emme, Beach Club Natural Mystic, a variety of known private parties and finishing 2010 in the New Year bash at Club Trento. Throughout his stay he hooked up with local DJ/producers Ivan Fernandez, Diego Suarez, Nacho Casco, and singer/producer Rodrigo Doc Agustin Etchegaray. Back in Europe, he is presently playing in multiple gigs at Underground Techno club ¨De Klup, Groningen.
