I showed up...
I stepped forward...
I raised my right hand...
I stood in the gap.
I walked in the fire...
I did not run...
I did not hide...
I did not dodge...
I did not evade.
Consequently....
I have nothing to prove...
No one to convince...
Those who matter... already know.
Those who don't, never will.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Get upset if you're too busy to talk to them for a week.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Are glad to see you after years, and will happily carry on the same conversation you were having last time you met.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Never ask for food or drink.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: May be the reason you have no food or drink.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Call your parents Mr. And Mrs.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Call your parents mom and dad.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have never seen you cry.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Cry with you.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Borrow your stuff for a few days then give it back.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Keep your stuff so long they forget it's yours.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Know a few things about you.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Could write a book with direct quotes from you.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will leave you behind if that's what the crowd is doing.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Will kick the whole crowds' behind that left you.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Would knock on your door.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Walk right in and say, "I'm home!"
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Are for a while.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Are for life.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have shared a few experiences...
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Have shared a lifetime of experiences no Civilian could ever dream of...
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will take your drink away if they think you've had enough.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Will look at you stumbling all over the place and carry you home or some other safe place and put you to bed.
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will talk crap to the person who talks crap about you.
MILITAIRY FRIENDS: Will not tolerate them for using your name in vain.
A Soldier
There is discipline in A Soldier you can see it when he walks,
There is honor in A Soldier you hear it when he talks.
There is courage in A Soldier you can see it in his eyes,
There is loyalty in A Soldier that he will not compromise.
There is something in A Soldier that makes him stand apart,
There is strength in A Soldier that beats from his heart.
A Soldier isn't a title any man can be hired to do,
A Soldier is the soul of that man buried deep inside of you.
A Soldier's job isn't finished after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
A Soldier is always A Soldier even while he sleeps.
A Soldier serves his country first and his life is left behind,
A Soldier has to sacrifice what comes first in a civilian's mind.
If you are civilian - I am saying this to you.....
next time you see A Soldier remember what they do.
A Soldier is the reason our land is 'Home of the free',
A Soldier is the one that is brave protecting you and me.
If you are A Soldier - I am saying this to you.....

Thank God for what YOU do!
A lone black wolf dashed across the great open plains.
Her white tipped paws barely touching the soft white snow.
Her bright gold eyes were wide with mirth and freedom.
She was wild and would always be.
A while ago strange creatures had encircled her, carrying oddly shaped sticks and what seemed to be a mass of vines.
But she was fearless like most wolves and fought bravely until all of the strange creatures left.
The animals' behaviors had befuddled her.
All of the other tundra residents knew that the wolf was king and not even the massive grizzly bear dared to go against this fearless ruler of the wild. However the much smaller animals did.
She didn't put much though into it any longer and galloped onward across her frozen kingdom.
After a mile or two the young wolf paused a moment to think. She was a lone wolf and could go anywhere or do anything she wanted. No two legged animal or bear or any other creature could break her wild spirit.
The spirit of the Wolf resides in my heart
Mostly peacefully, yet ever wild
Running in time to the blowing wind
Dancing in the clouds that drift in the Heavens.
The spirit of the Wolf resides in my soul
Longing to hear the song of the Great One
Striving to be that which I am in my natural state
Succeeding only because of the Love that the Universe grants me.
