gabberhistory:


Begin jaren 90 ontstond in Rotterdam een harde, snellere variant van de populaire House-muziek als reactie op de House van de Amsterdamse scène, waar hardcore-liefhebbers werden geweigerd in discotheek RoXY. In de Rotterdamse discotheek Parkzicht begon de meest populaire jeugdcultuur die Nederland ooit gekend heeft....

Met de eigen dress-code, dezelfde muzieksmaak (hardcore), een eigen taaltje, een aparte manier van drugsgebruiken (dope en alcohol) en hun aparte manier van dansen (op 230 BPM in trance raken) zetten de Gabbers zich af tegen andere subculturen, die van de Hiphoppers bijvoorbeeld. Veel Gabbers hebben ondanks dat ze eruit zien als extreemrechtsen niets te maken met racisme. Je hebt juist Gabbers die duidelijk tegen racisme zijn. Maar er zijn ook Gabbers die stoer lopen te doen dat zij stickers hebben ontvangen van extreemrechts en die worden als slaafjes gebruikt door extreemrechtse clubjes en partijtjes als Stormfront en de NVU om zoveel mogelijk leden te winnen.
