Purmer Noord!! kk Hard


Opgezet als een klein Amsterdam
Gebouwd in de periode 1981 tot 1990 vormt de Purmer-Noord een van de meer recente uitbreidingen van Purmerend. De wijk is opgezet als een klein Amsterdam met compacte buurten, veel water en verspreide parken. Bij de verkaveling zijn de oorspronkelijke waterlopen van de droogmakerij gevolgd..



Bij de inrichting van de wijk is uitgegaan van een vergaande scheiding van verkeer: woonerven, aparte fietsroutes van noord naar zuid en west naar oost. Het autoverkeer kan alleen via de hoofdontsluitingsweg rijden. Het gevolg is dat de woonbuurten bijna volledig afgesloten zijn voor autoverkeer

Aan de westrand van de wijk bevindt zich het stadspark van Purmerend, het Leeghwaterpark, en aan de oostkant het Purmerbos. In de woonbuurten zelf is weinig groen, maar door de vele waterlopen met bomen komen de woonbuurten toch open en groen over. Aan de noordzijde bevindt zich het bedrijventerrein De Baanstee.

Wonen en bevolking
De gemiddelde leeftijd in de wijk ligt ruim onder het Purmerendse gemiddelde en dat zal, volgens de bevolkingsprognose, nog zo zijn in 2010. De wijk zal wel sneller 'ontgroenen' en 'vergrijzen' dan de stad als geheel. De wijk heeft iets meer allochtonen dan gemiddeld: 15 procent versus 13 procent voor Purmerend als geheel. De sociaal-economische status van de bevolking in de Purmer-Noord is overwegend lager dan het stedelijk gemiddelde, afgemeten aan de gemiddelde opleiding en het gemiddelde inkomen.

De wijk stamt uit de periode dat laagbouw weer in de mode was en bestaat voor het grootste deel uit eengezinswoningen. Daarnaast is er wat gestapelde bouw, maar er zijn geen flats. Er zijn 2 wooncomplexen speciaal voor ouderen.

De Purmer-Noord springt eruit door een goede menging van verschillende typen woningen. Wel zijn de huren relatief hoog. Het overwicht van laagbouw is een sterk punt van de wijk, evenals de verkeersstructuur met ruimte voor fietsers. Ook de ligging nabij groen en de stedelijke voorzieningen aan de Waterlandlaan wordt door bewoners positief gewaardeerd.

Voorzieningen
De wijk bevat geen stedelijke voorzieningen, alleen wijkvoorzieningen. De wijkvoorzieningen zijn tamelijk beperkt. De wijk kent van oorsprong een groot wijkwinkelcentrum in het noordelijk deel, het Gildeplein, en een klein steunpunt in het zuiden: het Tilburyplein. Het kleinere steunpunt is de afgelopen jaren leeggelopen.

Speelvoorzieningen voor de leeftijdcategorie 0-15 jaar zijn er voldoende in de wijk, maar zijn soms onvoldoende afgestemd op de behoefte van kinderen in de directe omgeving. Sommigen ervaren de speelplekken in de Purmer-Noord als versnipperd en pleiten voor concentratie.
