Foundation and Early Years (1993–2003)

In 1993, DJ Zodiak (Marc Pulles) founded Zodiak Commune (partyorganisation), initially as a spontaneous rave after a birthday party. The collective quickly became a legendary force in the Dutch electronic underground. Zodiak was the driving force behind Zodiak Commune parties, a central figure in shaping the second wave of underground Acid and Electro in the Netherlands.

Foundation and Early Years (1998–2003)

Zodiak Commune Records (the label) was founded in 1998 by DJ Zodiak as the label arm of the Zodiak Commune collective. From the start, the label was vinyl-first, representing the raw and innovative spirit of Acid music.
The label released tracks covering the breadth of underground acid styles, including Acid Techno, Electro Acid, and Acid IDM, and quickly became recognized as an influential player in the Dutch electronic underground, helping to shape and sculpt the scene.
Between 1998 and 2003, the label also organized Zodiak Commune Records label parties at major cultural venues, including Effenaar (Eindhoven), Doornroosje (Nijmegen), 013 (Tilburg), and other locations across the Netherlands and Belgium.

Slower Phase (2003–2017)

After Zodiak stepped back as a DJ and transferred the Zodiak Commune party organization to a non-profit foundation in 2003, the label entered a slower period. Releases were less frequent, but Zodiak Commune Records remained active and respected in the underground scene.

Revival and Expansion (2017–Present)

In 2017, Zodiak fully reactivated the label, returning with renewed energy and focus. Since then, Zodiak Commune Records has expanded its activities and built a strong international presence, while remaining true to its vinyl-first Acid identity.
The label now operates multiple sub-labels, including:
* Deep Acid Records – Electro House–oriented
* Outlaw303 – Raw Acid and Electro Acid
* Same Size Soul – Pure Electro
This structure allows the label to explore different underground sounds while staying deeply rooted in the Acid movement.
Zodiak Commune Records places a strong emphasis on supporting new talent alongside established artists, providing a platform for fresh voices in the scene. The team behind the label includes:
