Guerilla Bass Records

Guerilla Bass Records is a new and steadily growing label based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The label was founded by Rafael Hermanos a.k.a MAC-V with the aim of releasing cutting-edge dark Jungle / Drum and Bass music. Inspired by the work of early Dillinja, Source Direct, Photek and several other pinnacle producers from back in the day, Guerilla Bass Records is here to provide the scene with new-skool Hardcore Jungle and obscure break-beat driven Drum and Bass music.

History

The label was founded in February 2018 during MAC-V's stay in Canada with the aim of releasing quality Jungle/Drum and Bass music for the future. By then, he had several releases on labels such as Next Phase Records, Sub Code Digital and Jungle Warfare, but soon came to realize that it was time to establish something himself and thus Guerilla Bass Records was created. Clay Powel a.k.a Branch was soon named co-manager after the first half year of the label and is responsible for the label's PR and talent scouting. His versatile taste, knowledge of the music and up-beat character helped stimulate the label to what it is and helped us reaching more people from all over the world.

The Logo

Guerilla Bass Records' logo is a skull with a dǒulì which refers to the guerillas in South-East Asia who fought oppressive regimes. The guerillas moved stealthily, under the radar, with moves that were brutal and well calculated. Camouflaged in day-light as normal civilians, but fiercely militant at night.

The Music

The music released on GBR is characterized by heavy militant drum rhythms, organic sounds, divine pads and lush vocals that take the listener back to a particular time in the 90's when it was all about the heavy vibes. Intelligent, hardcore jungle music is a fit descriptive of what is being released at the moment on the label.
So far these artists have released on the label or are affiliated with us; Msymiakos, Rez, Ride, Kratos, Infest, Nascent, MAC-V, Programs in Memory, branch and other big names yet to be announced

Events

The label has hosted several events under the names of 'Militant Beats' and 'Here Come The Drumz' and is connected with many local heads, soundsystem crews, venues, squatter places and other established labels. The events are a perfect opportunity for people to meet the label and is well-known for it's good, chilled-out vibes and quality music. GBR is currently in contact with festival organisers and others affiliated with multiple large scale events, so keep an eye on the page. GBR proudly confirms that there are some incredibly dope things for the massive in the pipeline!
