Biografie
Mona Lee started to play the records when she was 20 years old. Her first musical project, Beauhause, emerged on the dancefloor of the well-known club, Decadance in Ghent.
The energy of these two girls on stage got them to play at festivals like Tomorrowland, Pukkelpop (Boiler Room), at clubs like Fuse, Forty Five, La Rocca or Versuz and Beachhouse Ibiza. Both looking back on this 4-year adventure with a smile and gratefulness, they decided to give each other some freedom in discovering and enriching their own musical path.
Mona Lee kicked off her new project in the summer of 2016 at an open air party called Curfew, combining her DJ Set with live vocals. Her singing career started when she was 14 years old and got a new turn at the Academy of Performing Arts as a student in Ghent. Mona Lee is mostly looking up to female jazz singers such as Nina Simone, Sade, Norah Jones, Cat Power, Melody Gardot, Ella Fitzgerald and so on.
Her idea to combine a DJ set with a live singing performance got inspired by artists such as Virginia, Meggy or Lady Linn from the Belgian label We Play House Recordings. Being a huge fan of this label, it was a dream come true to release her first track "Don't Get Around" on the WPH label in 2018, together with WLC & Metrobox.
She had some great adventures in 2018 playing at festivals such as Rock Werchter, Balaton Sound Festival, Dimensions Festival, clubs like DJOON, Amper Klub and intimate cosy places like Bonnefooi, Café Café or Café Charlatan.
It's a fact that Mona Lee just loves to perform, she's an artist as a singer and a DJ. In short, what she stands for: The Groove of House, The Freedom of Jazz, The Soul for Funk & The Love for Disco.
