► Concept
Each ‘Age of Love’ party is a big celebration. Not only has every single party since the start in 2008 been completely sold out, on every new occasion ‘Age of Love’ gathers a room full of like-minded people: people who thrive on electronic music from the past and love to dance the night away on it. And since each ‘Age of Love’ party is already a big celebration, the birth-day editions can easily be called extravagant celebrations because on the birthdays ‘Age of Love’ moves from their regular venue Vooruit to the Artcube where the club-sounds from the ‘90’s are revered not in one but in three rooms. Three booming rooms with an atmosphere that you will only find on ‘Age of Love’ these days. It used to be the norm to party like there was no tomorrow in the nineties. People didn’t go out to have a drink or meet some friends, people went out to dance to electronic music that gave them chills down their spine, that made them jump with joy and shout of excitement. It created a truly unique feeling of togetherness and a vibe of peace and love and it’s that unique feeling that’s brought back to life on ‘Age of Love’.
Eight years down the line and ‘Age of Love’ is even more popular than when they started. The abundant ambiance of the older generations has now also attracted the younger generations who eagerly join in the complete madness on the dance-floor. A madness that is foremost created by the music with lots of dance classics that take people back in time (or make them discover our rich electronic past for the first time). The soundtrack of ‘Age of Love’ is made of timeless tracks that had and still have the power to bring people’s minds into higher states of consciousness and make their bodies move like they’ve never moved before.
The music is brought to the fans by a whole array of ‘usual suspects’, all of whom have become regular guests as they love ‘Age of Love’ and ‘Age of Love’ and its public loves them. They are always joined by some influential, (inter)national names from the past and their music is always enhanced by a lot of extra’s that you would also find in the most famous clubs of that time such as blinding laser-shows, dance and performance acts, gadgets as glow-sticks and more. And obviously, state of the art sound and lights.
In the Artcube’s main room you will hear the typical ‘Age of Love’ sound that is usually boosted through the speakers in the concert-hall of Vooruit and consists of more trance induced house sounds. It includes several big guests starting with Rank 1 who are one of Europe’s most established, respected dance acts, having been catapulted to stardom by their debut release ‘Airwave’. They also have an estimable remix-o-graphy to their name: Freddie Mercury, Ferry Corsten, Push, Cygnus X, Delirium, Marcel Woods, Mr Sam,… have all been given Rank 1’s studio re-touch. Rank 1 has thrilled crowds at some Europe’s best-known festivals including Sensation, Trance Energy, Mystery Land, Sunrise & Nature One. So it will definitely be a special treat to hear them in a more intimate setting on ‘Age of Love’.
They will be joined by none other than Niels Van Gogh who’s track ‘Pulverturm’ got gold in Belgium and sold over 20.000 vinyls worldwide. The great success of ‘Pulverturm’ was crowned with the German Dance Award in 2000 and in 2007 it was time for a remix. The new mix was again an immediate success and hit number one in the European club charts. Niels released many tracks on international labels like Spinnin´ Records, Cr2 and Doorn Records since. He did remixes for Plastik Funk, Tom Novy, Milk & Sugar, Lissat & Voltaxx, Schiller, Tomcraft and many other artists. Furthermore he’s responsible for the successful compilations ‘We Love House’ and ‘We Love Electro’.
Our third guest M.I.K.E. aka Push may be from Belgium but he is also responsible for some of the most iconic tracks in the history of electronic music, from ‘Universal Nation’ to ‘Sunrise at Palamos’ and from ‘The Legacy’ to ‘Silver Bath’. Hailing from Antwerp but now residing in New York City, his ClubEliteSessions radio show clocks millions of listeners on a weekly basis and tracks such as ‘Elements of Nature’, ‘Astrolab’ and ‘Juno’ demonstrate that his appeal remains as strong as ever.
These big names will get the full support of our well tested and trusted regulars as Yves Deruyter, DJ Ghost, DJ George’s, Franky Jones, Vince Nova and resident Quincy.
The Teknoville Area will take us back to the glory days of that famous, first dance program on Studio Brussels and will feature the best house and techno artists of that time, many of which are still more than relevant today. And since we have a lot of those in our own backyard, we’ve chosen Marco Bailey as headliner in this room. He’s truly an icon in dance music. He cemented this status through relentless touring and with releases across a wide variety of respected labels such as Drumcode, Intec, Sleaze, .. and off course his own imprint MB Electronics. Marco is also a festival fixture at some of the most prestigious shows in the world and with his annual guest appearances at Carl Cox’s "Revolution" events at Space in Ibiza, Marco has affirmed his legend and well-earned place at the top. And also Frank De Wulf is quite a phenomena in dance music. His famous B-Sides releases are still featured in today’s sets of names as Richie Hawtin and many others, 20 years after they have been released. Third big guest in the Teknoville room is Robin 'Jaydee' Albers who’s joined us many times on our birthday and who proved his worth on each occasion. He’s the man behind one of the biggest dance tracks of all times ‘Plastic Dreams’, number one all over the world which made him a true globetrotter. Jaydee is dance, Jaydee is house with a feeling, Jaydee is progressive, Jaydee does his own thing and we love him for it.
Next on the line-up is an equally renowned artist but again, homegrown, with Frank Struyf aka Zolex who has such a long history you could easily write a complete book on his career. In the early nineties he was the resident of the mythical club Globe. At that time he did about five gigs a week, being one of the most popular DJ’s around the Benelux. Despite his busy DJ schedule Frank still found the time to produce his own sounds. In 1993 he created Zolex’s ‘Time Modulator’, a timeless classic and since he has produced under many guises including Zolex, Extended Mirror, The Draft, Manchester Dawn, Dirty Jackers, Carat Trax, S.B.E. and more next to his own label Zolex Records. He was also resident in Carat, Barocci 🇳🇱, Katsu and a frequent guest at Extreme, Cherrymoon and Illusion. We will truly enjoy seeing him live on ‘Age of Love’.
These three big guns will get the company of another great name in Belgian music history in the form of Sven van Hees from early Liasons Dangereuses fame who will up his usual tempo gladly to fit the Teknoville room. More deeper house and techno fun will come from Michael Forzza and Youri Parker.
And the party doesn’t stop here because we also have The Endless Love Room in store for you. A room where you will hear the deeper and more progressive trance sounds: the typical sounds of clubs as Extreme and La Rocca. It may be a very small and cosy room but the artists are nothing but small. First of all, international act Nalin & Kane who made some of the biggest tunes in the history of progressive house music, the most popular being ‘Beachball’ of which half a million copies were sold worldwide. It landed them remixes for big names as Kylie Minogue, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Sven Väth and many others. His biggest remix Da Hool’s ‘Meet her at the Loveparade’ became thé hymn of the house-generation and that’s what we are at ‘Age of Love’, thé house generation.
Next up, is one of the biggest trance producers from our own backyard, Mr. Sam. He started his career with Yeti Records in Ghent but soon got picked up by no other than DJ Tiesto for his Black Hole Recordings where he produced one hit after another. This landed him remix work for the biggest artists around as Timo Maas, Corvin Dalek, Sinead O’Connor, Delerium, Niels Van Gogh, Todd Terry and many others. He plays all over the world but is rarely seen in Belgium so another special treat on Age of Love. And then a name you might not expect in the Endless Love room but you may have forgotten that Steve Cop was also a resident of la Rocca before helping to make the Fuse club famous and it’s that early side of his career that he will display here. Add to those musical wanderer and Studio Brussels head honcho Jan Van Biesen and our regulars Marko de la Rocca, Phi Phi and Red D and you know that this progressive house party is complete.
All the dj’s will give it their all and play those tunes that you love the most, each in their own special ways and we will spare no time or costs in bringing you all those extra’s that will make you feel like you are back in the ‘90’s. So come and let the love vibes flow for another magical birthday in party-land!
