Swiss act Kiku mixes classical composition, improvisation, electronics, spoken word, singing and rap. Versatile and catchy.
Yannick Barman (trumpet) and Cyril Regamey (percussion) started Kiku as an acoustic duo by during their studies in Lausanne.
After diving into combining improvised music with composed music they left their acoustic roots behind in 2003. Nowadays their music involves electronic sounds produced by machines loops and computers. A combination of timbre, improvised and composed materials brings Kiku close to classical chamber music and takes you on a journey through unknown soundscapes.
Berlin based rapper Black Cracker functions as a narrator and entrances the listener with his striking and personal poetry, expanding the acoustic playing field created by Kiku. Musical glimmers of hope and gentleness in a world filled with turmoil.
