It all started in the summer of 89 when he landed in Tenerife on vacation and stumbled across the delights of the emerging sounds of Chicago & Acid House. Returning to the UK, he immediately went in search of this new found music a pair of turntables were bought and with it, a musical career was born. A regular customer at London’s Fatcat record store, Mark found himself at the epicenter of a burgeoning scene. In 92, a certain Pete Baby Ford was on the scout for Djs to play at his new Club Night, Nude. When a mix tape was put directly in to his hands, Marks turntable skills were soon in demand. A short time afterwards, he found himself in being introduced to Ed Handley and Andy Turner from the infamous Black Dog Productions. The meeting brought about the foundations of a solid studio partnership, with the trio putting together a string of releases for the seminal General Productions Records, all recorded at UXB studios. Run by a certain Dave Hill, after two years of coming and going to his east London hideout, Dave approached Mark about making some music together. From there, a longstanding partnership was spawned with the founding of Pure Plastic Recordings in 1994. With the label having played host to some of Marks finest work, the release of the classic Angie is a shoplifter LP in 1996 cemented his reputation as a leader in the scene. ZERO [House Clubbing | BE]
Zero was born and raised in Knokke-Heist, Belgium. He was inspired as a teenager to be a dj after visiting the legendary Fuse club in Brussels. Being inspired by the Techno he heard at the Fuse he bought a pair of turntables and a mixer in the 90's. After spending many hours in his room making mix tapes for his friends, he realized that his favourite style of Techno was Detroit Techno .
In 2001 he teamed up with a good friend of his, DJ Switch, shortly after they were asked to perform as a duo at the BBC beach party. after that, they were invited to play for the “DJ's” on TMF at the BBC Club. Soon after that initial success they became residents in a local bar which gave them more notoriety further away from home which resulted in other residencies, at parties such as Urban Grooves, Area 51, Tekno-Knights and Dancing Vibes. Parties which are very well known in the West Flemish region promoting high quality Techno. Along the way they also participated and won several dj contests, which also lead to new bookings at clubs such as the Decadance, The Fuse (Motion Room) and the Young talent corner at Kozzmozz playing next to Dj's such as Dimitri Andreas, Trish Van Eynde, Zzino, Redhead, Stanny Franssen, Ramon Tapia, DJ Emerson, Oliver Ho, Trevor Rockliffe, Secret Cinema, Charles Siegling, Justin Berkovi, Marco Remus, Lars Klein, Space DJz, Surgeon, Mark Williams, Ben Sims, Shinedoe, Joel Mull, Surgeon, Deetron, Kr!z, and Emetic.
In 2005, DJ Zero decided to spin solo once again developing his own unique style, energetic with a little twist of deep, building up to climaxes to keep the party level up!
After taking a break for a few years, due to the birth of his son, Zero is now back in business! Being devoted and enthusiastic to keep the parties going, he has recently played on Urgent fm, and even won 3rdplace in a dj contest and continues to have a busy program ahead
