Solis

Flor van der Ven was born in Den Bosch, NL in 1984. Five years later he started his first pianolessons and remained interested in music ever since.

Playing piano in a worldmusic formation for some time, singing in a band, spinning discs at parties and creating all kinds of electronic music. Flor hooked up with Flip van Hagen who was the leadguitarist in the band CorTeX where Flor was one of two singers. Toghether they formed the psytrance act B-FliP. They made fullon psytrance for years and meanwhile Flor started a number of projects such as SOLIS (the Sound of Love in Space) and MAMA (Mind Altering Musical Audio).

But then on a tragical day Flor, working in a kitchen for a dayjob, had to go to the first aid imediately because of a severe backinjury. As time went by,it turned out he had artritic spineproblems in the lowerback section. Flor is still recovering this day, but the music never stopped!

Although the tight schedual demanded by the succes the guys had with B-FliPpsytrance proved to be too much to keep up with, as Solis Flor was able to determine when and where he would make music by himself. He also managed to team up with Joris de Bonth in DiFOCUS, an other danceact.

As psytrance got reinforced by minimal, progressive, house and other styles of dancemusic, Flor decided to use his own name for the act that would stand for solely his musical tastes and who he is, thus Flor van der Ven became not only a name but also a style.....
