The October 2009 edition of the ‘Redevice invites…’ clubnight, and the brand-new www.redevice.com netlabel release are an epic roundup of the best artists from its international stable of affiliate producers, and delivers another expansive outlay in our cutting-edge cycle of quality techno music.
This time no less than 3 German top DJ-producers, Roman Flügel, Matthew Styles & Steffi will reside behind the turntables, assisted by local confederates Ramchez, Pep & Frodo.
The emphasis here is: premium electronics by true masters.
The electro-intellectual productivity of our first headliner is virtually unrivalled. Roman Flügel as a producer, DJ and label co-owner of Ongaku/Klang/Playhouse has blossomed into a gentle giant in the German electro scene.
His solo project as Soylent Green just as obligatory as the Alter Ego project with Wuttke that says yes to techno down to the very last detail.
Be it in the form of his sets near home in Offenbach's Robert-Johnson, at the Amnesia on Ibiza or in Berlin's mad house Berghain/Panorama Bar: instead of disappearing into trivial and insipid elevator clicks and clacks, he prefers to fight through 20 years of ‘rave’. Contemporary music that consists of bleeping house or cracking techno coupled with futuristic Italo disco and electro that is anything but provincial. There was a time when one used to call such music acid house, released by the dozens on compilations. And so the story comes full circle.
Matthew Styles is a DJ going places. After appearing at some of Europe's finest clubs and acquiring a reputation for legendary after-hours sets, Matthew has been consolidating his talents and sounds with some great new releases on very respected labels and a blossoming DJ career.
Holding his first residency at eighteen, Matthew has played some of the finest clubs in the world in the last ten years. From his residencies at the legendary Crosstown Rebels ‘Slash & Burn’ Parties and Berlin's WMF to his now monthly appearances at Berlin's Panorama Bar and regularly featured at Fabric in the UK. With a solid appreciation of what the dance-floor needs and an acute sense of taste Matthew easily transgresses all house music regardless of trends.
Steffi's great knowledge, taste and experience in music granted her a residency at one of the best clubs in the world, Berlin's infamous Berghain/Panoramabar. You can trust her implicitly as a DJ, in form and in content. Her skills are extraordinary: effortlessly mixing up electronic disco, serious Detroit, Dutch electro, original, funky and fat House, and straight up techno, she can boggle your senses and tamper with your feet at the same time.
Redevice hosts Ramchez, Pep and Frodo, will serve as electronic beacons throughout the night, with their thick simmering narcotic grooves -- tight, uncompromising and with panache.
