In January RAUW brings an evening full of weird sounds, rock-hard grooves and exciting improvisations to Roodkapje!
The line-up consists of four Rotterdam bands, FAST D, The Celestial Turkey, Soil Painting and ROEST that show that musicians in 010 are averse to being labeled. They break down the walls of conformism between jazz, rock and electronics. The guitar riffs, synth sounds and solid beats have found their way to jazz. Improvisation, the core of jazz, is retained, but the tools have been renewed.

RAUW is the release of the new EP from the band ROEST, entitled "Inloopmuziek". Band leader and drummer Ruud Voesten did not merely want to present his own work. He also wanted to show the scene where his music is embedded. Moreover, he was looking for an alternative, creative and raw setting that matches that scene and their sound. With partner in crime Jazz International Rotterdam, Ruud made a shortlist of bands and made a tour of Rotterdam to find the most suitable location. It became RAUW, and it became Roodkapje: a mini-festival full of front runners from the Rotterdam jazz scene!

Bij RAUW krijg je een avond vol weirde sounds, keiharde grooves en spannende improvisaties, gebracht in de meest creatieve huiskamer van Rotterdam, Roodkapje!
De line-up bestaat uit vier Rotterdamse bands, FAST D, The Celestial Turkey, Soil Painting en ROEST die laten zien dat musici in 010 wars zijn van hokjes. Met een sloophamer breken ze de muren van conformisme tussen jazz, rock én elektronica af. De gitaarriffs, synthsounds en stevige beats hebben hun weg naar de jazz gevonden. Improvisatie, de kern van jazz, blijft behouden, maar het gereedschap is vernieuwd.
RAUW is de uit de klauwen gelopen release van de nieuwe EP van de band ROEST, getiteld ‘Inloopmuziek’. Bandleider en drummer Ruud Voesten wilde niet louter zijn eigen werk presenteren. Hij wilde ook de scene laten zien waar zijn muziek is ingebed. Bovendien was hij op zoek naar een alternatieve, creatieve en rauwe setting, die past bij die scene en bij hun sound. Met partner in crime Jazz International Rotterdam, kwam Ruud tot een shortlist van bands en maakte hij een rondje Rotterdam om de meest geschikte locatie te vinden. Het werd RAUW, en het werd Roodkapje: een minifest vol frontrunners van de Rotterdamse jazz scene.
In de line ups van RAUW spelen naast initiatiefnemer Ruud Voesten onder anderen: Jimmi Hueting (Jo Goes Hunting), Stefan Lievestro (Mona Lisa Overdrive), DARIO TRAPANI (Marcellis & Darieaux ), Denis Baeten (MILD) en Jelle Roozenburg (New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra).
