Once again Claydrum & EPM and Muziekgieterij (co-production) join forces to deliver a techno and house extravaganza at Muziekgieterij in Maastricht, NL for this year’s Christmas mega bash! This year’s guest techno Santas are two of the UK’s most prominent techno artists, James Ruskin and Mark Broom. Established in their own right, the pair’s collaborations as the boundary pushing The Fear Ratio has given us this year’s album ‘Refuge of a Twisted Soul’ on Skam and has taken their sound ever further into unchartered territory with the duo recently supporting Autechre in Manchester.

Over the last 20 years James Ruskin has become one of the main exponents of British electronic dance music. With his releases on Blueprint, Coda and Tresor he set new standards in production techniques and his DJ skills have taken him regularly all over the world. Consistently headlining clubs and festivals throughout Europe and beyond as one of the UK’s most revered techno DJs Claydrum & EPM pay homage to the Blueprint linchpin on the cusp of celebrating his label’s 20th anniversary.
Since the start of 90s, the former East Londoner, now Norfolk based Mark Broom has always been a name synonymous with the UK electronic music scene. A truly prolific artist, he has a myriad of production credits to his name having worked with world renowned labels such as Mo-Wax, Warp, R&S, Bek Audio, Ifach (with Baby Ford), Bpitch Control, NON Series, M-Plant, Material, Saved, Pure Plastic, Skam, Blueprint and his own label Beard Man. As well as his recent Fear Ratio collaborations with James Ruskin, Mark Broom has also released on Robert Hood’s M-Plant.
Alongside Ruskin & Broom is another veteran of UK techno, Ben Long (Space DJz). There are few DJs and producers in the modern techno world who can truly claim to have pioneered a style and sound, and call it their own. Such statements are often declared, but rarely justified. In the case of Ben Long and his partner in the Space DJz, Jamie Bissmire (also known for his part in the ground breaking dub techno group, Bandulu), this claim would be unarguable. Releasing their debut EP on the infamous Infonet label they have also released on labels such as Soma, Kombination Research, Synewave, Beard Man and their own imprints Ground and Potential Recordings. More recently Ben released his first solo EP for EPM Music titled “Toltec” which featured remixes from Dark Esser aka Tripeo and Detroit Grand Pubahs.
Ben will be playing a special B2B set alongside sometime studio collaborator and EPM co-founder, Oliver Way. As one half of Detroit Grand Pubahs with Paris the Black Fu, Oliver Way – aka Mr. O has played the world over. Taking in everything from house, techno, electro and rave Oliver returns fresh from HYTE v M-Plant @ ADE where he played alongside techno legend Robert Hood. Expect something a bit special for the night with messers Long and Way at the controls!
Thomas Vrijhof got acquainted with house music at Innervisions on the beach, since then he was hooked. Living in Amsterdam at the time his love for electronic music and partying could quickly evolve and that is exactly what it did. Later on he moved back to Maastricht and that is where he first started spinning records. His little brother and fellow Claydrum DJ Bob Caro had already been DJíng for a while and turned out to be a good teacher and practicing buddy. Endless sessions in Bob's living room along with Flatspot made him into the DJ he is now. A vinyl enthusiast, with a mix between House, Disco and Techno.
Claydrum is a techno family with roots in the south Netherlands city of Maastricht, whose audience has quickly grown from 200 to 1500 in just 4 years, bringing some of the most internationally renowned DJs to the city.
