AVUS (Border Community, Manual):

In January 2000 two clever friends handed Scott Edwards a copy of buzz and a cdr full of samples. These were fused with a mind full of sounds crossing everything from Tangerine Dream to a Roots Supercharger and avus was born.
By this time Scott had already been honing his DJ talents for many years gaining a residency at London's Glasshouse, his own radio show and playing numerous sets around some of Britain's best (and indeed dodgiest) sweatpits. During this time Scott's sound had developed into a compound of deep house, techno and acid. Mixing the finest squelches from Detroit, Chicago, Berlin and London he formed the ideas that became the first avus tracks. These early works quickly got the attention of Midset Recordings, tech-house bass junkies. However, the avus name was truly etched into acid house folklore when the all conquering Border Community label released 'Real'. This was cemented with releases on Ali Perc's Perctrax imprint and the legendary Klang Elektronik, guaranteeing avus a place in the world's more exciting record boxes. In the summer of 2007 avus returned to Border Community unleashing the awesome ‘Furry Hat/SPNKR’, which dominated the playlists of the best DJs across the summer. And now with his latest release, the mighty ‘boute diabolique’ on new Dutch Imprint Stolen Moments, avus has raised the bar once more.
Avus’ track success hasn’t dulled his love of DJing and he is a regular at Border Community's End residency alongside successful touring including recent gigs in Dublin, Tokyo, Paris and at New York’s legendary Love.

Biography Thomas Laurén:


Thomas Laurén aka Thomas Pieterse was born in 1983 in Arnhem, The Netherlands. During his revalidation of a broken leg, he became inseparable from his stereoblaster. Since that moment Thomas loves all different types of music, as long as the music comes from the heart. His predilection for electronic music started when he became 15. From that moment on, Thomas visited many houseparties and clubs in the Benelux, always staring at the performing artist, listening to the deep melody and pounding grooves. In 2004 he bought two decks and some records together with a friend, but after a while he wanted more. He bought a PC and some software and started to explore, trying to make his own sound. Since that moment Thomas Laurén has a couple of productions on his name like Hope and Fairwinds Gossip.
Nowadays, Thomas Laurén is owner of a liveset and played together with DJ’s like the Frank Lorber, Monika Kruse, Nuno dos Santos, Joris Voorn and many more.

HERTZ_ presents Manual Music @ Flex Bar vrijdag 4 april

Vrijdag 4 april organiseert Karma Productions in samenwerking met Flex Bar Amsterdam weer een nieuwe editie van HERTZ_. Deze editie is het label Manual Music uitgenodigd met twee Live acts een muzikaal raamwerk te komen maken. De Britse producer Avus, o.a bekend van zijn releases op Border Community, staat garant voor een ongekende electronische zweefduik, zoals de meesten uit de stal van James Holden. Mis het niet. Nederlands talent Thomas Lauren gooide eind 2007 hoge ogen met zijn sterke producties op Manual Music en Dual Block en zal vanavond laten horen dat dit geen eendagsvliegen waren.

Tijdens deze nieuwe Hertz_ zullen ook residents en organisatoren Jama & Marcus Gehring laten horen waar ze bekend om staan; warme electronische sets met een goeie ‘edge’. Voor deze editie is ook Madou gevraagd om het publiek te vermaken met zijn Ableton set. Zijn sound kenmerkt zich door een strak, vloeiend verhaal en sfeer die je doet denken aan de nadagen van de vermaarde oude Tresor..

Genoeg gezegd, kom vooral langs 4 april in de Flex Bar!
