Op Facebook meldt Merlijn Poolman, een van de oprichters van de club, dat Subsonic gaat sluiten. Een reden voor de sluiting kan Poolman nog niet geven omdat de gesprekken hierover nog niet volledig zijn afgerond. 'Het was voor ons niet mogelijk om op die locatie door te gaan', meldt Poolman. Dear people, I am posting this in English because everyone in my timeline who has been even a bit interested in the things that defined almost my entire life for the last 4,5 years has the right to know that my beloved nightclub, my baby Subsonic is not existing anymore from now on.
Last weekend, very unexpected and unwanted has been our last party ever and by coincidence house temple Pand48 closed too that night. A sad weekend for underground dance culture in Groningen and also for the Sub-crew, our loyal bouncy party family. A bit painful was the fact that we did not know thas this was going to be the last Sub party ever, because in the last weeks I have given every effort possible to make it go on but yesterday it turned out that this just wasn't made possible for us.
Two awesome months of program were scheduled till october 31st and almost all DJ's who would play in the next months will hear it now by this status-update but I will contact them asap. But because every facebook-status is intented to be likeable I also have good news regarding this. Currently we are investigating where we can host the parties we had planned with awesome DJ's and crews coming over from all over the world. Because nobody will stop the Sub spirit from shining, we were born to bounce and will continue to do so till the bitter end, which is not now!
I wanna thank everyone for the amazing years we shared in our dark but always cosy basement and the unforgettable lessons, laughs, music and amazing people I encountered over here. These 4,5 years have been the heaviest, most unhealthy but above all the very best years in my life so far and I don't regret a second of them! With all my heart I wished we could have ended this continuous mayhem streak with a final party-week that would get to the pure Subsonic essence of bouncing, but sometimes things don't go as you hope they would but that's life and I have learned my most valuable life lessons in these last years and am grateful for all of them.So for now thanks again, a big kiss to you all, stay tuned to see where we will host our coming Subsonic parties in the next two months!
