Danny D interviews Steve hill and JP

1)Danny D:
Ok how did this all happen with you playing back 2 back at HQXL on the 13th of November in Amsterdam?

Steve Hill:
I was asked by HQ who I'd like to go back to back with the most. My favorite Dutch Hard House DJ is JP so the choice was easy. I know I have my work cut out for me because his closing set at last years Dance Valley was one of the best sets I've ever seen! I think we'll work really well together and look forward to it already!
JP:
Always when I heard Steve play I liked it very much both music and his performance, as a person Steve is very down to earth and has a pleasant personality so when I was asked who I wanted to play back to back with this time at the HQXL the answer was simple: Steve Hill.

2) Danny D:
It must be a nightmare to prepare if one of you is on the other side of the world. How's the preparation going so far? And are there going to be other surprises,
Steve Hill:
This sort of set takes a lot of preparation - especially if it is to be remembered. I've talked with JP already about how to start the show and we're talking about our favorite tracks we want to play already - and the set is 2 months away! I'm up for going into the studio specially to come out with tracks / intros / mixes for this party!
JP:
We are already having contact via e-mail concerning tunes we would like to play for quiet a while now, and we are also getting together a few days before the party to do some fine tuning of our set and try to make a special intro for the party (like I did with Tom last year) we are both getting more and more excited each day and the party is still far away

3) Danny D:
Steve, JP has just started producing his own tunes like you have had for many years, what do you think of the work so far? And is it true that you will collaborate on some tracks soon in Amsterdam?
Steve Hill:
I've heard JP's tracks with Gaz West and am really impressed. I think if we went into the studio together we'd come out with something strong that we'd both play for a long time. I'm trying to arrive in Holland a few days earlier so we can do that!

4) Danny D:
JP, you have been or will be signed or are signing with Tidy, what are there plans for you in 2005? Why did Tidy decide to sign you now? Are they going to release any of your tracks on Tidy?
JP:
People from Tidy been to our events before and heard me play.
This was for them always special because I play a wide variety of hard dance [they called it all across the board] and it made me stand out each time when they heard me, so they knew me already when I came to the Tidy Weekender, here I told them that I always love to play in England and that I still need an agent in the UK.
I also made special packages for agency's and promoters, this also included my special promo mix cd, as well the tracks I've done with Gaz, this made quiet an impact on the Tidy management and they asked me to join!
Although I had more options besides Tidy I felt that they were the best option for me because the agency is not to big and it's focused on hard dance and also with their events, record label and marketing ability.

5)Danny D:L
Steve you left the UK a year ago to live back down under. How are things down there in the Harddance scene/ what are the parties like down there?
Steve Hill:
The Hard Dance scene here is strong. I get to play all over Australia and New Zealand regularly as well as touring Europe 4 times a year and other countries along the way. My favorite parties here are Transmission (Sydney) where 7000 people go and listen to a variety of Hard DJ's. Frantic is also my favorite here. JP and I first met at Frantic in London a few years ago and have kept in touch ever since.

6) Danny D:
You have both been in the studio with one of the stars of 2004 and HQXL Gaz West, what’s the verdict on what makes him so good to work with?
Steve Hill:
Gaz is great because he does what a lot of UK producers don't do. He marries German and UK sounds and produces them into a strong energetic sound. I enjoyed working with him and look forward to do so again in the future. He's got some great tracks that are unreleased which no doubt he will play at HQXL!
Jp:
Gaz has taken Harddance a step further with his mix of English and European influences. His studio work is second to none; he has got his own style and knows his equipment inside out. He is one of the best I've worked with so far and can't wait to do some more tunes!

7) Danny D:
What other producer is doing it for you at the moment apart from Gaz?
Steve Hill:
I've been working with a variety of new and established producers. Paul Maddox, Guyver, Technikal, Knuckleheadz, D10, Delegate, Flash Harry, James Lawson, and Matt Williams. I have two labels I'll be releasing most of the tracks on as well as on Tidy Trax.
JP: I'm not that much into producers, but more into tracks.
If a track is good, I love it because of the music, and don't really care who produced it. All people who are producing got my deepest respect cos they keep the scene alive with their input of fresh music, without it, where would we be?

8) Danny D:
What can we expect on the night at HQ Extra Large?
Stev Hill:
I hope to walk off the stage at HQXL and turn to JP and say 'that was my favorite set of the year!' - It'll be big!
JP:
Last year the reaction of the audience to Tom and my set was unreal!
They send us both into a frenzy and we were both getting into it even more!
So this year, we will try to reach an ever better impact and hope the audience will react even more mental then last year.
I think it won't be a problem because as the flyer says:
"We are coming home!"
