Are there any oldschoolers left?

Hey there! I just wonder if there are any oldschoolers left? I mean.. strictly oldschool, Rave.. Hardcore.. Gabber.. those genres.

This is the side of my story: I've been addicted since the 90's to these genres, aspecially Gabber. I just love them.. and I hate all this new shit, I wish Newstyle never was born.

Tell me your side of the story, and tell me if you have: Experienced.. Hellraiser? Digital Overdose? Or any other party. If it's Thunderdome, tell me if you attended between 1993-1997 (the best years of thunderdome).

I meant.. STRICTLY oldschool. I really hate this mainstyle & newstyle hardcore. Gabber is dead.. it lived until 1995, then it died, really. No good records anymore, they don't deserve the tag "Gabber".

that's why i said i wouldn't go to hellraiser vs megarave :)
if you want to go to a real oldschool party, come t the Parkzicht reunie in november.

I ain't got any money for Parkzicht parties. Besides.. I am starting a Gabbergroup.. C.N.H.O. Focusing mainly on the good old sound.. the HARD sound.

I do NOT like it:

1) It sounds cheesy, almost tranceish stabs.
2) What happened to the hoovers.. and the real stabs?
3) It sucks.
4) It sucks.
5) Read 1-4.

I still have my old thunderdome & mysteryland videotapes @ home and i watch them often even now... I wish i was born a few years ago, so i could have visited all those great parties...

it's not only about early and new hardcore...the same thing happend with techno :cry:

there is almost no more good real techno records :dood:
 
Sure, there's a lot of 'oldies' left here in Holland! (although you don't really have to be an oldie to love the oldskool style(z) ofcourse ;))

just a little look over here on PF at several topics on oldskool & related issues will give a good idea about how alive this whole thing still is with a lot of partyfreaks from those days!

-eg. various Park/Parkzicht topics, and more like that about 1 of the several other 'housetemples' from the past (as everybody has their own favorite place that mean temple to them, dont have to be Parkzicht) think of the Belgium joints like Cherry Moon, Globe, ClubX, Boccachio for example, most of these already been closed (:'()
-then there's the various oldschool/oldschool gabber/houseclassics etc sets topics, as you also must realise oldschool is a subject/name that has a wide/varied meaning for people here in holland aswell, not just gabber and hardcore as a lot presume it is.. if you're going to that Park reunie for example you'll hear gabber & ravestuff yeah, but houseclassics, classic techno (like Joey Beltram etc) aswell, and the 'belgium trance' stuff like it was released on Bonzai for example..

Although i'm already for years now into the (underground) techno shitz, i never lost my first love for House music (as in the early days everything was simply 'labelled' as House music.. maybe better ghe.. and we where every weekend going to a Houseparty, and that was all that mattered.. all this dividing into stylez and shit was a development that started few years later.. (93/94? what was it? can't really tell ya cuz it didnt matter to me much at the time.. i guess i'm not the only one who'll have thoughts like that)

but you can still expect me at reunions or oldschool/parkzicht themed nights if i can be there (y)

I love real oldschool rave music, but I get pissed off cos everyone always plays the same tracks at the big parties in Holland

Public Energy – Three O Three
Set Up 707 – Djax
Kid Unknown – Nightmare
Jones & Stephenson The First Rebirth
TNT – Brainwashkiller

Etc... All great tracks admittedly, but I’d much rather hear someone play something different, more underground but most just like to play safe.

And also, DJs playing hardcore and nu-style (95 onwards) in oldschool arenas. I think that some of todays big name DJs don’t even own many oldschool records but still get booked to spin this style :/

In England nobody plays oldschool rave music of this style, over here oldschool is breakbeat music – Prodigy/Acen/4-Hero etc...
I think the best oldschool party I’ve been to in Holland was in Hardbeat Café in Rotterdam. I travelled over for an event called 1992 is for You which was meant to be held in Parkzicht, but it got cancelled at the last minute. We went to Hardbeat instead and the DJs played really good tracks all night long and there were loads of old party heads there, it was a small party with only about 100-120 people but the music and atmosphere was perfect.

In the morning we went to visit Parkzicht and somebody had laid a wreath of flowers on the steps…

It's good.. and as I say: "Oldschool will never die, aslong as someone is keeping the core alive, it will never die out." And now I don't mean NEWSTYLE shit that ruined it.
