Één van de grootste namen uit de hardcore scene is de legendarische DJ Promo. In een podcast van Elitepauper laat hij zich onder andere uit over het verschil tussen vroeger en nu: “De consumptie van het produceren is zo snel geworden.”

In de podcast ‘Ekte Verhalen’ van Elitepauper geeft DJ Promo onder andere aan dat de druk tegenwoordig ontzettend groot is geworden: “Tegenwoordig moet gewoon elke track een hit zijn, en die druk die had je vroeger niet. Toen moest 1 nummer de hit zijn, en daarna kon je nog 2 of 3 andere dingen doen. Dat is ook wat die hardcore nu nekt, alles moet die bepaalde hit zijn.”

Sebastian geeft aan dat er vroeger veel meer creatieve vrijheid was. Er was veel meer tijd om over een bepaalde track na te denken en het echt naar je eigen smaak te maken. Door de komst en druk van sociale media geldt dat tegenwoordig niet meer: “Alles is super overgeproduceerd, super bedacht, er is geen track meer waarvan ik denk oh wat doe je nu?” Doordat alles tegenwoordig zo viral gaat, wordt de jonge generatie artiesten nu soms slachtoffer van hun eigen succes volgens de DJ.

“Muziek is mijn passie”
De artiest geeft aan dat hij altijd bij zichzelf gebleven is. “Dit is compleet tegenstrijdig met wat er nu gebeurd, maar voor mijn gevoel als ik iets doe wat niet echt is, dus waar ik niet 100% achter sta en niet helemaal mezelf is, dan werkt succes niet.” Het gaat om de muziek die hij wil laten overbrengen en horen aan het publiek: “Ik sta er niet voor mezelf om het mannetje te zijn, ik sta er om die muziek te vertegenwoordigen want dat is mijn passie.”

Je kunt oefenen om met je handen in de lucht te wapperen haha Tja, dat is vreselijk saai. Grappige is, in het interview met de tweekaz zegt D-block (?, vreselijke sukkel) dat een uur genoeg is. En dat hij gerust allemaal platen van zichzelf draait omdat anderen dat ook doen. Mix skills zijn sowieso niet nodig omdat platen op elkaar lijken, met intro en outro. Daarom is het veel knapper hoe jij mixt, omdat je veel meer stijlen hebt. Waarbij lang niet alles even eenvoudig mixbaar is.

Op het album van I hate models staan een aantal klote nummers. Oei.

Dat is duidelijk een producer die dj word omdat hij tracks maakt.
Iemand die eerst dj is en later begint met produceren zie ik dat minder snel zeggen.

En dat is het hele probleem, meeste dj`s van nu zijn begonnen als producer en draaien daarom ook meestal alleen maar hun eigen shit.
En wat je zegt, dat is lekker makkelijk.
Ze kunnen die platen dromen na het maken van die tracks.
Maar er gaat bij hun wel veel tijd zitten in het onder de knie krijgen van de handjes in de lucht.

Klopt, en is voor mij ook altijd weer een verrassing hoe dat gaat klinken, maar dat houd het spannend.
Als ik soms 2 tracks van verschillende stijlen door mekaar gooi en ik hoor het resultaat, dan zit ik echt te genieten terwijl ik ze mix.
Dat zou ik nooit kunnen hebben als ik allemaal tracks uit 1 hokkie mix, en aangezien mijn plezier voorop staat als ik mix zou ik niet anders kunnen.
