SOundScape Present: Irma Records 30th Anniversary
Legendary Italian label Irma Records is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year in tandem with Italian promoters, SOundScape.
Taking place in celebrated Amsterdam nightclub Meneer Nieges, the event has been staged to coincide with the electronic music industry’s foremost annual get-together, the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).
On Saturday 20th October, Irma, SOundScape and Deset will join forces for a very special night of music, the likes of which is sure to prove a fitting celebration of all that the label has achieved over the past three decades.
Leading the charge on the night are Italian DJ duo System of Survival. The boys behind the Fventi label, the now Barcelona-based pair boast a long and chequered history when it comes to electronic music. Night-time legends in their native Italy, the boys have been involved in electronic music since 1990. More recently, they kicked off the Deset label complete with remixes by house music legends Boo Williams and Ricardo Miranda. Other labels they have lent their deft touch to include Rawax and Ellen Allien’s Bpitch Control.
Don Carlos is a name who needs no introduction to fans of the deep. Best known for his classic Italo anthem ‘Alone’, his music is experiencing a welcome and much-deserved resurgence thanks to DJs such as Hunee, who only a few years ago put a new spin on another Don Carlos original, ‘Re-Mida’.
eLBee Bad aka The Prince of Dance Music is a NYC legend now based in Berlin. Just as comfortable playing up-front, jacking techno as he is more supple house productions, he has contributed music to esteemed labels such as Nu Groove and Rush Hour during his stint in the game. In 2012, Rush Hour re-issed his most celebrated works, ‘The True Story of House Music’. Featuring the likes of ‘New Age House’ and the Andrew Weatherall sampling ‘The New Age of Faith’, it proved a timely reminder of the talents of one of electronic music’s true underground heroes.
Complimenting the line-up is a very special secret guest, a man who is considered one of the finest ever proponents of deep house and someone for whom the term ‘legend’ is most certainly an apt description!
Completing the line-up is the Amsterdam-based Cinema Royale (Claire / Garage Noord / Dekmantel / Red Light Radio), Rawax up-and-comer Oskar Szafraniec, Deset label boss Caruan and the Italy-born, Barcelona-based DJ, Akira, a young Italian championed by System OF survival and a resident at the Soundscape parties.
