Cold temperatures increasing...
The Norwegian duo The Blizzard consists of DJ-producer Lars Nyheim and composer-keyboardist Tore Vatle Jensen. In 2007, the mysterious and deep sound of their debut single "Kalopsia" created a massive hype in the trance and progressive scene. Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Andy Moor, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz and even Tiësto supported the track, leading to a huge release on Dutch super label Armada Music. What a great start!
Today The Blizzard are well-known contributors from Armada's core roster. They have proven to be an act that never disappoints when it comes to maintaining the quality and consistency of their distinctive sound, as they only release music that is memorable and that has something unique to offer. Their music is packed with wonderful details and has been described as a journey of beauty and discovery. No wonder the world's #1 DJ, Armin van Buuren, dubbed the duo "The Masters of Progressive Trance" and described their music as a "melodic piece of art." Armin also included productions from The Blizzard on his highly acclaimed ASOT compilation -- incredibly -- seven years in a row.
As for remixing, the duo has a remarkable ability to turn a track into something magical. Each and every remix requires countless studio hours and is like a painting in wave form: often with hundred of layers of sounds, including arpeggios, textures, glitches, bass, drums, guitars, effects and vocals. For an example of one of their most elaborate and acclaimed works to date, we invite you to listen to "The Doppler Effect - Beauty Hides In The Deep (The Blizzard Intro Remix)." Moreover, Armin is so impressed with The Blizzard's sound, he has personally requested their remix touch on three of his tracks: "In and Out of Love" (feat. Sharon den Adel), "Take A Moment" (feat. Winter Kills) and "Breathe In Deep" (feat. Fiora).
The radio show "Point Zero with The Blizzard" is the duo's way of showcasing their favorite tunes. Thousands of subscribers download the show to listen to the best in progressive music, exclusive world premieres, and creative mashups. Visit their Soundcloud page (Soundcloud.com/Theblizzard) or search in iTunes to listen.
Having DJ gigs is a natural consequence of releasing great music and having a wonderful radio show. While Tore is in the studio jamming that keyboard, Lars is busy providing rhythms, melodies and bass to dance floors across the globe - Russia, USA, South-Korea, Indonesia, Ukraine, Colombia, Hungary, Holland, to name a few. Lars loves to travel and give something special back to The Blizzard's fans. To book The Blizzard for a DJ event, please contact their manager: marina@vendace.ru.
2013 has kicked off with a bang. The duo just signed their new single "Made For You" (feat. Daniel van Sand and Julie Thompson) to Armada Music. The track was premiered on the yearly "A State Of Trance" compilation by Armin van Buuren, and in his radio show. In addition, there are a lot of new productions, radio shows and gigs coming up this year, kicking off with a warm-set for Above & Beyond in Oslo on the 28th of February.
