Jason Walker is an enigma.
Plain and simple.
He just can't seem to decide if he wants to be a Pop artist, or a Dance artist.......so he just does it all!
There were occasions when he'd sing with a Blues band on a Friday and the following night, he'd be performing at a Rave.
To him, music is music, singing is singing, and a good song is a good song.
Sometimes, you don't even know it's him on a record....you think it's someone else.
He says at times, that's a little un-nerving, but for the most part, he takes it as a compliment. Especially when it's thought it's a woman singing.
Jason grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA, and after turning out a winning performance on television's "It's Show Time at the Apollo", he decided NYC was the place to be and moved with his best friend and fellow singer, Sammy Allen, to Williamsburg in Brooklyn where he quickly hit the pavement singing where ever and when ever he could.
About a year and a half later, the work paid off when he caught the attention of New York City legend, Junior Vasquez, who quickly signed Jason to his JVM Imprint.
Over the next few years, the pair would record 2 full length albums, "This Is My Life" and "Flexible", and Jason would play around the country in clubs and festivals. After the release of his debut, Jason was nominated for the IDMA for Best New Dance Artist Solo and "This Is My Life" would stay in the Top 10 of the iTunes Top 100 Dance Albums for 4 months while producing 6 singles. Of the singles, "Set It Free" and "Foolish Mind Games" peaked at # 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart, while the 3 others charted in the Top 10, "My Life" (# 3), "No More", penned by Kristine W (# 5), and "Movin' On" a collaboration with Dynamix, (# 7).
After leaving JVM, Jason went on to work with various producers such as Bimbo Jones, DJ Grind, Honey Dijon, Quentin Harris, Lenny Fontana, Alex Peace and Brian Boncher, and Miami based producer, C-Rod. C-Rod and Jason released the singles "Raise Your Hands" (# 17) and "Beat Don't Stop" (# 5).
Jason was introduced to Tony Moran in 2004, when Tony remixed "Set It Free" for JVM, and the two became good friends. In the years following, the pair worked on a few projects together, but were waiting for the perfect song........."So Happy" is that song!
A song about love that's uplifting, positive, and....well....Happy!
This record has really been a labor of love for all parties involved. So much love has gone into it, and at the end of the day, that's really what it's about, love and music!
