Biografie
Empro's music can be described as trippy, twisted, dynamic, organic and messed-up - in a nice way. His uplifting tech house sound makes the crowd dance all night long at Berlin's most credible clubs including the likes of Sisyphos, Panorama Bar and Bar25, where he had been a resident before joining Sisyphos in 2011.
Growing up in Thuringia in the south of East Germany during the late 80s, Empro's interest in the multiplicity of electronic music began in the mid-90s. After excursions through all kinds of different styles of electronic music, he rapidly became an active part in the underground scene. Empro was involved in the uber-credible underground music community Restrealitaet and founded the booking agency Mind the Crap together with Ruede Hagelstein, Rejne Rittel and Tanna Enderlein (former booker of Watergate) in 2004.
Empro's first DJ gig was beneath Alexanderplatz (literally at Berlin's underground) in 2003. Numerous gigs followed instantly at Berlin's back-in-the-day most established clubs including Watergate, Tresor, Maria, WMF, Polar TV and Casino. With a knack for minimal techno and tech house, Empro then reliably rocked the dance floors all across Europe (UK, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Poland) and America (Canada, Columbia, Ecuador) all the way to Asia (Thailand). He's also initiated a number of successful party series in and around Berlin including HomeSweetHome (in collaboration with fellow Bar25 resident Marcus Meinhardt) and Betriebsfeier.
Programming the Sleepless floor at MELT! festival, Empro is also involved in a number of festivals across Europe including Sonnemondsterne (Germany), Fusion (Germany), Sonar Off (Spain), Secret Island Nation (Sweden) as well as Berlin's Beats and Boats.
Apart from being a DJ and promoter, Empro is firmly focused on producing and releasing. Sharing a studio space with Marco Resmann, Format B and Ruede Hagelstein, he's producing together with Sven Jozwiak since 2006 and their first release 'Kleine Hafenrundfahrt' appeared on Upon. You Records in 2008. Various productions and remixes followed on labels like Bar25, Kassete, K:Lender, QT Records, No Dough, Duami and Freizeitglauben with 'Running Man' a collaboration track he's done with MIKO from Channel X appearing on his own imprint HomeSweetHome.
