|Naam||Ed van Helden|
|Genres||deephouse, house, indie, nu disco, techno|
His musical development might be interchangeable with that of other dj's (from electro, via hip hop and break beats to deephouse), his musical style sure ain't! Leaving commercial noise aside, Ed van Helden (a.k.a. Meneer van Helden) developed a special liking for dirty yet deep sleazy (tech) house. He's been keen on picking records other Dutch dj's, for incomprehensible reasons, seem to ignore. His style can be described in two words: sleazy deep shit (o.k. that's three). Guaranteed to get the party started, yer ass movin' and to put a smile on yer face. From his break in 1989 Ed van Helden has played clubs in different European countries, combined his dj-ing with producing records (Chestnut, F-Action, Brer Soul) and founding and running his own (Push & Pull) and other people's (Natural, Work) record labels. Now-a-days dj at the Butcher, BARKODE, Conservatorium, Vrijmibar and his own parties called Gruis in Amsterdam.
