Biografie
Gatty has been keeping the techstyle genre alive in Australia as a talented producer and dynamic DJ. Playing furiously dark and banging sets alongside some of the biggest internationals shows that this young gun has a promising future ahead of him. With an impressive catalogue of releases under his belt, plus many more coming soon, he is gaining worldwide recognition at a rapid rate.
In 2005, at the age of 16, Gatty (Michael Gatt) was introduced to the alluring world of electronic dance music during a camping trip with friends. At this time, the hardstyle scene launched itself with regular events, and international acts began touring to introduce the harder sounds to Australians. On New Year's Day in 2007, the Dutch duo Thilo & Evanti made their Aussie debut to a massive audience in Melbourne, which included the awe-stricken Gatty who was a massive fan of them and their releases on StraightOn Black. After meeting his heroes, Gatty learnt more about how Thilo & Evanti began their music careers and how they produced their tracks. As soon as Gatty arrived home that night, he started teaching himself how to use Cubase, inspired more than ever by the true pioneers of techstyle.
As he continuously developed his sounds, he gained inspiration from tracks like Evanti - What a Rush and Jowan - Faceplant. From this, an infatuation grew with dark, hard kicks, techno rhythms and loops, evil sounds and devastating climaxes which unmistakably describe the elements of the techstyle (Techno Hardstyle) genre. During this time Gatty started to play gigs around Melbourne. He was lucky enough to gain residencies at both of Melbourne's most popular Hard Dance clubs PHD & 3D where he became known for his enthusiastic performances and hard, dark tracklists.
n 2009 Gatty was given his first digital release 'Gatty – Undetected' on Theracords. This amazing opportunity began his professional music production career, something that seemed so far away that day back in 2007. Thera recognising this potential for a new sound started the sub label 'Therabyte'.
Since his first release Gatty has had several smashing E.P's and completed remixes for Thera, Busho and Melbourne's own Hellraiser. He also had his track 'As it Appeared' featured on the Therabyte E.P Vinyl. His latest release 'Drone' has massive worldwide support from the likes of Mark EG, A*S*Y*S, Fausto, Thilo & Evanti, Alex Kidd, Louk and Scot Project.
Gatty has also had the amazing opportunity to produce a track with his heroes Thilo & Evanti which in his eyes is the highlight of his journey so far.
So what comes next for Gatty? You'll just have to wait and see.
