Biografie
The production abilities of Doctor P, experience of DJ Swan-E and vocal talents of Krafty MC all combine to create the sound that is 'Slum and Bass', a diverse yet unique sound with elements of dance-style drum and bass, dubstep and jungle.
Doctor P aka Shaun Brockhurst started out as DJ Picto, with several solo releases in the style of jump-up drum and bass, including 'Streets of Rage' and 'Music Lover' on Maximum Ammo/Maximum Boost Recordings, labels owned by DJ Swan-E, and Earl Falconer of UB40.
Already legendary in his own right, DJ Swan-E was a familiar face in the rave scene since the 80s playing globally alongside the likes of Fabio, Grooverider and Adamski.
The two teamed up together and started experimenting with new tunes such as 'Straight to Ya Ear' and 'Give Me More', both on Maximum Boost Recordings. Something was missing and along came Krafty MC. Out and about on the circuits since the late 90s and with residencies at Dreamscape, Raveology and Innovation, Krafty was about to add his vocal talents and give the trio that extra something special. And so with the fusion of their know-how and craft based on over 40 years combined experience in the music industry the multifaceted sound of Slum Dogz was unleased upon the world.
Pushing the boundaries of drum and bass and bringing in elements of dubstep new tunes soon followed with the release of the high octane 'Bad', dubstep-inspired 'In The Hood' and 'For All Time', the latter two complementing the unique sound that is Slum Dogz with the referencing of celebrated audio clips.
Reviving older tunes for a new generation the high-energy Slum and Bass rhythm was applied to remixes of 'Neighbourhood' by Zed Bias ft. MC Rumpus and Nicky Prince, originally released in 1999, and Mickey Finn and Aphrodite's infamous 'Bad Ass', originally released in 1996.
With a number of releases under their collar, the live Slum Dogz showcase comes with a mix of high velocity beats and auditory delights, interweaved with news reports, skits, Slum and Bass specials and VIPs with the odd dubstep track thrown in for good measure, guaranteed to get the crowd begging for even more.
So with the Dogz fully licensed to be out on the streets listen out for the Slum and Bass beat coming your way soon.
