"The kids want Techno" - but not only they do!
At least in case of Carl Benson who seems to be conducted of refurbishing the image of the Ruhr -Techno substantially. The "Duisburger" is a kind of new aspiration of the Ruhr area and far beyond of stereotyped Beatport Top Ten and perpetual Pseudo-Minimal Tracks he represents the best proof of Sound, which still rock our local Clubs.
Ever since he can remember he felt a passion for music – ever since he is able to coordinate his arms motor-driven he felt the desire to convey himself in it. Before venturing the turntables in 2003 he kept on playing the drums for some years – which definetely has sharpened his senses for rhythm and grooves.
Eventhough the affectation for drums persisted he decided to chuck the wooden sticks for electronic music – and a long-term drummer became a more accomplished D.J.! The productions of an Adam Beyer and the presence of Chris Liebing were probably not quite innocent in his development.
At the beginning of 2006 - due to his self-managed event "Elektroleben" at Duisburgs "Desperados" - he ventured performing in front of the crowd for the first time. Supported by his brother Timm he participated in the public DJ-contest of NRW..s leading web portal of electronic music named "Stylecharts" - where the DJ-Team was placed 2nd apparent easy. This outcome was followed by a residency at the notorious "Chism Club" as well as continous guest performances on familiar "Stylecharts Nights" at the "Rheingold" in Düsseldorf. It wasn..t long before latter location focused its attention on this ascending talent purely out of self-interest and finally ensured Carl Benson a dedicated position in its agenda.
In the meantime he can reflect upon events beside Monika Kruse, Format B, Pan-Pot,Thomas Schumacher, Oxia, Ramon Tapia, D-Nox, Minicoolboyz & Hearthrob as well as the huge "Poison Club/ Stylecharts"-Floor at the "Ruhr in Love" in 2008, 2009 and 2010... .. We..ll guess that the near future holds even more plans in store for this emergent DJ who favourably is celebrating his gigs with body and soul.
Lethargic stand-about or self-display is ineligible for him. Carl Benson loves and lives all facets of modern techno. Above all you definitively get a taste of it when experiencing him behind the decks..
