Biografie
In the mid-late 70's, and early 80's Kenny Carpenter was in ever-present attendance when the NYC underground club scene emerged from It's womb of rhythmic integration. As an original Brooklyn resident he watched, listened and learned from some of the best DJ's before becoming serious about playing music himself. At that point he devised a plan for his future. Some of his biggest mentors & idols at the time included the likes of Nicky Siano, Tee Scott, Walter Gibbons, Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, Larry Patterson and David Mancuso.
In the year 1975 Kenny Carpenter's early club experiences lead to his employment as a light technician at the then famous 'Galaxy 21" on West 23rd Street, working lights alongside the famous DJ & remixer Walter Gibbons. After the Galaxy 21 closed he worked lights at a club called 'The Inferno" on West 19th Street in NYC. Kenny always had the desire to play music and he started spinning records first in small venues, and then inevitably moved on to a Saturday Night Residency at the world renowned 'STUDIO 54" on West 54th Street. After the closing of Studio 54, Kenny was hired as the Saturday Night Resident DJ in a venue the size of an airplane hanger with a capacity of more than five thousand people called Bond's International Casino, It was the largest club in NYC located on West 45th Street in the heart of Times Square! His resulting popularity and increasing fame led to international opportunities in countries such as Japan, Hong Kong,Israel, France, Spain and England spinning regular guest spots at what was and still is the most famous club in London and the world called The Ministry Of Sound.
Some of his then biggest contemporaries, and still friends to this day, include Francois Kevorkian, David Morales, Louie Vega, Tony Humphries and Tedd Patterson. He also has done a few productions for recording artists the likes of Shaun Escoffery, Sheila Ford, Kenny Bobien, and Barbara Tucker. He continues to produce & remix music and he has forged a working relationship with talented producers such as, DJ Spen, Teddy Douglas, Louie Vega, Tony Humphries and David Morales, Kenny has had several top charting releases on Tony Records and Spen's Quantize Records and now he's formed his own label called KC Recordings. The labels debut release is called 'More Love" It's an inspiring, soulful song that he co-produced with the legendary Disco & Soul artist called Leroy Burgess.
Kenny describes his professional & global function today as a DJ & Producer and he believes that Social Networking has become a necessity to help complement and enhance his knowledge, talent, experience, and professionalism. He feels like it's time for him to take advantage of the gifted ability he's acquired to make people, young and older, move, think, and feel, by making his concepts available to all who are interested in the evolution of club music"!!!
Kenny Carpenter is a Native New Yorker but his sets can be heard worldwide, Including England, Italy, France, Germany, Greece and in Switzerland where he currently holds two residencies.
