Biografie
1974 was a good year, the year where the Dutch soccer team lost the finals despite having a better team with players such as Cruyff, Neeskens, Rep, Schrijvers… legendary names that wrote history during a tournament where the Dutch stamped their mark on soccer and how it should be played. 1974 was also the year where Dani Hageman aka Muzikjunki was born, little did he know about soccer and even today he couldn't care less. It's all about music for him, always has been and always will be as it looks now and like other fellow Dutchmen he's slowly stamping his own mark on today's house music. Muzikjunki originates from Rotterdam and knowing these things it becomes clearer that his sound seems to contain the same elements that producers from Holland all share, Energy!
Not a stranger to the dutch scene he's now slowly getting the international recognition he deserves after working hard for many years which is starting to pay off. After having explored many styles it's become clear that Muzikjunki has found what he's looking for. His unique style blends House, hip hop, electro and a touch of progressive all into one infectious style of dirty beats, gritty bass lines and catchy vocals.
Joining forces with heavyweight Peter Gelderblom in 2008 resulted in a single on Spinnin' records ( Peter Gelderblom & Muzikjunki – Trapped ) a remake of the 1986 Colonel Abrahams Hitsong which was signed to 20+ countries and appeared on several trendsetting compilations. Together with Peter Muzikjunki was responsible for several chartbreaking remixes for a.o. Deadmau5, Ian Carey, Erick Morillo and more.
While playing for major brands like Ministry of Sound & Pacha and holding a residency in Moscow's hottest club 'Discodome', Muzikjunki's DJ schedule for 2011 included dates in countries such as UK, Russia, Germany, Spain, Ibiza, Dubai, Holland, Ukraine, Austria, and a lot more coming in 2012. Muzikjunki played alongside Underworld, the Chemical Brothers, Neneh Cherry, Ferry Corsten, Axwell, Erick E, BT, Sander Kleinenberg, Fedde le Grand, Sasha, Marco V, Laidback Luke, Funkerman, X-press 2, Layo & Bushwackah, David Penn, Erick Morillo, Don Diablo, Pablo Ceballos & many more.
Always trying to be forward in his music, Muzikjunki's last track with Russian superstar DJ Danila, 'Without you' was definitely one of the most played tracks in the 2011 summerseason supported by the likes of Tiesto, Steve Angello, Axwell, Avicii, Roger Sanchez, DJ Chus, David Penn and Roog to name a few.
This year will also be the debut of a new project named 'Fabulous addiction', a collaboration with former Milli Vanilli singer Fab Morvan. The debut single 'See the light' is planned for release on Premier recordings by the end of May and is already being tipped as one of the summer anthems for 2012.
2012 will also be the year in which Muzikjunki's debut studio album entitled 'Junkyard stories' will be released on the mighty Black Hole imprint. On this album, Muzikjunki shows his diversity as a producer in the fullest. From pop to dance to breakbeat and back, Muzikjunki is covering the full musical spectrum on his debut album. The album release will be in june 2012 and besides single releases from the album, there will also be several Muzikjunki releases and remixes this summer on labels such as: Black Hole recordings, Universal music, Wazzup? records, Ultra Music, BDR Music and many more.
Keep an eye out for this original Muzikjunki, bigger things are on his way and nothing is stopping him now!
