Biografie
Margaux Gazur is a French-Vietnamese sound artist based in Berlin. Her work focuses on exploring possibilities of sounds, using unconventional instruments, everyday objects and field recordings to create rich and textured soundscapes. She likes to combine her sound exploration with other disciplines to create abstract sensory experiences.
She studied classical piano at the Conservatoire. Using everyday objects and sounds from surrounding environments allow her to create music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Having lived in Vietnam for five years from 2012, Margaux played a key role in developing Hanoi's underground electronic music community. She founded the first alternative art and music venue, inviting international acts and local artists. Aiming to source local talents, she founded a multidisciplinary collective to connect artists and musicians to work together on projects mixing traditional and modern approach.
She first worked with field recording as a sonic memory of her daily life in Hanoi and start composing experimental music with this approach to for her dad's martial arts video. She used recordings from those sessions, including the sounds of traditional martial art weapons and instruments used for celebrations. After that, she kept developing this approach and developed her own immersive projects combining discipline through a sensory experience.
Her love for organic sound pushes her to constantly engage her sonic surroundings, seeking out new sources of inspiration and experiment with different recording techniques.
