Biografie
James iD is a brand new musical project from one of Scotland's freshest and most exciting new electronic music talents, James Campbell. Djing for over eight years, James began his journey cutting and mixing hip hop tracks in his bedroom but soon developed a deep rooted love for all things melodic and progressive. Taking influence from artists such as Eric Prydz, Jeremy Olander and Christoph, James developed an ear for recognising good tracks which, coupled with clean mixing and the ability to read a crowd, quickly established him as one of Aberdeen's finest emerging talents, while sharing lineups with some of the game's biggest hitters, including Pete Tong, Hot Since 82, Skream, Annie Mac and Duke Dumont, However, it wasn't until James jumped in at the deep end and made the move to Ibiza in 2015 that the international community began to take notice of the Scotsman's abilities.
Earmarked as "one to watch" during his first season, James iD has been waves ever since. He regularly appeared on the lineups for clubs like Sankeys and Eden, however, it is one of the island's oldest and most respected superclubs, Amnesia, where his sound seems to best fit, resulting in an almost weekly residency in 2016, playing both the terrace and the main room. James's time in Ibiza has seen him work with some of the island's biggest brands, such as Together, Do Not Sleep and Abode. He also fulfilled one of his childhood dreams by playing the island's much coveted Café Mambo, putting him firmly in the company of some of the industries most elite talents.
Early in his career, James identified production as a key element to his progression in the music industry. Harnessing influence from other electronic producers, his early love of hip hop and composers such as Ludovico Einaudi, James quickly developed his own unique sound, perfectly blending deep, melodic and emotional atmospheric tones with chunky, progressive basslines. James's tracks were quickly picked up by some of house music's most well respected labels and a string of releases on the likes of D-Vine Sounds and Craft Underground soon followed. In 2016, James's collaboration with Alex Descarda, Horny, on Todd Terry's SoundDesign imprint became the label's biggest selling track of the year and announced James as a rising star on the production front. James has since become one of CR2 Records' busiest artists with a string of EPs and releases culminating in the heavily Ibiza influenced 'Faith', released in September 2017.
Armed with a catalogue of unreleased tracks, an upcoming podcast series, a host of local and international bookings and further residencies in Ibiza, 2018 is promising to be a huge year for James iD. Expect to see his name and hear his tracks on dance floors near you soon...
