Bashan

Bashan is the project of guitarist Gemma Thompson, based in London. Formed over several years whilst recording and touring extensively with her band Savages across the globe, she performs as a soloist constructing sound fields of shimmering layers and deep resonance. In 2016 she completed her first documentary score for director Nick Ebeling's 'Along For The Ride' which premiered at last years Venice Film Festival – creating a richly symbiotic narrative with prepared guitar captured live to the projection.

Bashan's first release 'EP1' was written and recorded over the summer and released in October 2017. The EP projects and intricate collage of works inspired by the imagery of American painter Morris Graves – using guitars, field recordings, voice and joined by musician Sam Sherry on percussion and harmonium to find a way to trace the trajectory of each sound, to follow it's path unquestioning.
