Banana Hill and SubTropikal are teaming up to bring you a rhythmic fiesta of music; an explosion of global sounds! We’re excited to announce that joining us at Canvas Amsterdam from Lisbon is global bass extraordinaire, Batida. Also on the bill are Amsterdam residents Mr. Mendel and Boodha who will be sure to keep those feet moving until the early hours. You can expect everything from Cumbia to Kuduro, Afro-House to Samba.

Banana Hill and SubTropikal are teaming up to bring you a rhythmic fiesta of music; an explosion of global sounds! We’re excited to announce that joining us at Canvas Amsterdam from Lisbon is global bass extraordinaire, Batida. Also on the bill are Amsterdam residents Mr. Mendel and Boodha who will be sure to keep those feet moving until the early hours. You can expect everything from Cumbia to Kuduro, Afro-House to Samba.

Drawing from a wide range of Afro-influenced styles, Angolan/Portuguese producer Batida creates a colourful cocktail of afro-electronic music. Signed to UK label, Soundway, Batida reinterprets Angola’s vibrant musical past by adding his own pulsating twist to skilfully blend the old with the new. Coming along for the ride with Batida will be his dancer, who will be sure to ignite the stage with his mesmeric movements. We’ve been massive fans of Batida for a while, so we’re incredibly excited to bring him to Amsterdam for the party:

Amsterdam’s own Mr Mendel has a passion for disco originating from all corners of the planet. Following his residency at Bitterzoet and work with Waxwell records, his tastes were refined as he developed his love for globally-influenced party beats. Mr Mendel currently curates the ‘Tropical’ selection of 22Tracks and anybody who has witnessed one of hit DJ sets before will tell you that it’s an energetic concoction of funky basslines and exotic rhythms.
