Global Impact through fashion & music afterparty

MUSIC is a LIFESTYLE is a 5-day Arts & Culture festival-taking place as part of ADE Playground (Amsterdam Dance Event). Although the entire city is going to be highlighting the world of EDM, we thought it’d be interesting to expose audiences to the roots and influences behind some of the most prominent electronic dance music artists of today. Hip-Hop, graffiti, visuals, street fashion, live vocals and instrumentation all play a role in some shape or form in the lives of these DJs/producers. A modern state of the art gallery in the basement of a 5-star hotel is where these various art forms will come to life.

---> MIX, MINGLE & MOVE <--- Wed. Oct. 15th

A mixer for creative minds, brands and influencers.
Launch of new art exhibit titled, “Music Is A Lifestyle”. Featuring the works of Jasper “Dr Jay” Andries, Ilja Meefout , Lucky Dubz & Dean Zeus Colman.

All four of these artists have been handpicked because their roots and/or influences lie in music. Dr Jay is a legendary name in the Dutch graffiti scene - now working as an illustrator for advertising companies and as a “sign” artist, Ilja is the prominent photographer of urban artists in the Netherlands (everyone from Snoop Dogg to Afrojack can be found in his portfolio), Lucky Dubz is a DJ and his illustrations on event posters are considered classics and Dean’s 3-D street art sculptures blends graffiti style lettering with wood, clay, stone and plastic.

---> AN EVENING WITH DJ SPINNA <--- Thurs. Oct. 16th

DJ Spinna is a prominent DJ/producer from Brooklyn who started out in hip-hop and has crossed over into EDM while still staying true to the soul. His style encompasses everything from Stevie Wonder to Fella Kuti to the hottest dance mixes. All this makes him the ideal host for the evening. Spinna helped us hand pick the film we’re screening, “Charles Bradley: Soul Of America”. This heart warming documentary takes audiences into the world of a 62 year old man living in poverty, who finds his voice with the help of talented musicians/producers, ends up making the best selling soul album of 2011 and ending up at this year’s North Sea Jazz Festival.

The afterparty will feature a 3hr solo set by DJ Spinna himself.

Noted DJs will will take dancers on a musical journey from break beats and soulful house to deep and Chicago house and set the atmosphere for the ultimate dance jam. No “shade” of this genre is safe! In addition, there will be performances by 2 established crews: “House of Vinyard” (Vogue, Wacking, Runway) & “X-Gen” (Breakdance meets Housedance).

---> FASHION BAZAAR <--- Sat. Oct. 18th

The afternoon will host custom pop-ups stations featuring both up and coming and established Dutch fashion labels. These brands focus on handmade high end product. All their items are exclusive and not mass produced. The designers’ passion and individual sense of style is visible in their work. Attendees can meet these designers, ask questions and purchase product in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, fashion enthusiasts will be able to get clothing/shoes customized by painters and engravers.

A panel discussion with influencers from various corners of Holland's music & fashion scenes. The conversation will address the contributions of the Dutch on a global level, the obstacles, the triumphs, what's missing and what deserves support? The panel will consist of a blogger, a TV personality, a rep from a music channel, a fashion brand and a DJ/producer/artist. Our objective is to create an inspiring dialogue between these influencers and engage audiences through their individual artist approach.

A deluxe indoor food market where chefs will present their delicious meals. Vegetarians and carnivores all be treated to a variety of options, where desserts won't be excluded. A fully service (cocktail) bar will be on deck!

On this final evening of #MiaLADE we will focus on the art of musicianship. Various (known) singers will be on hand to showcase themselves in a “jam” format. In some cases jamming and creating songs on the spot along with our house band. These established performers will be performing their interpretation of everything from Sarah Vaughn to David Guetta.
