The psychedelic scene in Amsterdam is not large, but has existed since the start of electronic dance music in the Netherlands, mainly thriving in the underground. Despite its long history in the Netherlands, psychedelic trance has not been a part of ADE very often. InnerVisions are pleased to have the opportunity to represent the underground psychedelic scene on ADE.

InnerVisions has been organizing underground parties for five years. Psychedelic trance, or psychedelic/psy-trance for short, has its roots in the hippie culture of Goa, India. Visitors are sometimes called “cyber hippies” because of the hippie values and ideology of the sixties that strongly affect the vibe of today’s trance parties.

Psychedelic parties are a multi-sensory experience. Music of course is an important part, but contrary to many other types of dance parties, psychedelic is rarely played in a dark, undecorated club. Not only is your auditory sense stimulated, but also your visual, tactile and olfactory senses. Only through full multi-sensory stimulation does a party experience become psychedelic; your whole being will be immersed in a different word, a journey into another dimension of consciousness...
