Biografie
Laying down melodious uplifting trance under the name "Energy Dai" and exploring sounds from a deeper realm under the alias "D41," globe-trekking Japanese artist Energy Dai has built his trademark around his trance and techno "2 styles 1 DJ" concept. This year marks his 20th anniversary behind the decks, and August will see his second appearance at the phenomenal Dance Valley festival.
Energy Dai's career stretches back to 1996, and his passion for dance music and unparalleled energetic performances soon took him across the national field. Still in his early 20's, he launched his London-based international career in 2002, and the rising star eventually branched out to further destinations worldwide. Energy Dai has performed in London, Brighton, Truro, Birmingham, and Newcastle, earning the reputation of being one of the most active Japanese DJ's in the U.K. circuit as he graced the decks on the main stages of prestigious clubs such as London's Brixton Academy, Ministry of Sound, Se-One, Camden Palace, The Fridge, The Mass, The Cross, Heaven, and the now-defunct legendary venue The Turnmills.
In 2003, Energy Dai made his Dutch debut at Amsterdam's famed club Melkweg, and following that also rocked massive crowds at Rotterdam's AHOY as well as outdoor festival Dance Valley. Additionally in Europe, he has performed at Scotland's top venue The Archers four times, and made his Berlin debut under his D41 alias at premier techno club Tresor. But Energy Dai has a greater global vision that stretches even further. He toured South Africa twice, touched down on Pacific Rim destinations including Australia, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan, and made his first Russian tour in 2014, playing at 3 locations including Radio Record's festival Trancemission.
On the domestic forefront, over the past 16 years Energy Dai has held residencies at Tokyo's legendary club Velfarre as well as at Osaka's 1000-person capacity Club Joule as both an official artist and producer. Currently, he still continues to create and host world class events on his home turf.
Energy Dai is also known for his studio work, notably his two analog releases with production partner Mike Koglin, titled "LOADED" and "Reloaded," which were supported by Tiesto and other world-renowned artists. The much-anticipated, genre-busting "Reloaded 2014 REMIX," however, showcased the true diversity in his style.
