Jodie Denis, aka Aluku Rebels, was born and raised in one of the world's most multicultural cities, London . Growing up with a mixed heritage – Dominican, Greek, Irish and English – Jodie's musical influences ranged from Funk, Zouk, 80's Ballad and Reggae, through to 70's Afro beat, Chicago /Detroit House and Latin sounds. Music gave him a solid understanding of both organic and electronic sounds from an early age, and it is with this knowledge that he is now emerging as one of the UK's new era Dj's. He skilfully blends effects and mixes sub genres of house with his true passion, Afro House, an area which he has been dedicated to promoting for over five years, and has further inspired him to set up his own record label in 2014. With his diverse sound and infectious energy on the decks, Jodie tears up the UK dance floors wherever he plays. He is adored in Southern Africa and Botswana, where he gigs annually and his biggest fan base reside. He has played alongside mega artists, including Black Coffee, Heavy K, Da Capo and Black Motion. Jodie even featured on Botswana National TV,BTV, and was on one of the most viewed Urban Music shows (4M) earlier in 2014. Since his first ever Dj set in 2011, Jodie has performed at a wide range of key London venues such as Ministry of Sound, Pacha London, Egg Club, Supperclub, Brixton Jam, POW and Aquarium along with performing in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds over the years. His vim and vigour have led him all around the UK, pushing the music he loves and performing for different crowds, including celebrity after parties and fundraisers, including for British actor Idris Elba and South African footballer Kagisho Dikgacoi (Cardiff). 2016 he made his successful debut performing at Moon dance (London), Southport's Suncebeat festival (Opening boat party) in Tisno ,Croatia and also made a first appearance in the United States of America, Los Angeles, Kenya (Nairobi), Holland (Amsterdam) ADE festival 2016/2018, Nigeria, UAE Dubai, Tobago, Azerbaijan, Portugal. Jodie's sets can be included with live percussion, sax players and dancers but it is his all-embracing attitude and dedication to showcasing African musical talent that helps create a holistic journey of natural rhythm and emotion when you experience his DJ sets live.
